About St Giles House Hotel
St Giles House Hotel occupies a former Georgian assembly and banking building on St Giles Street, one of the more architecturally striking streets in the city centre, and the conversion has kept many original features while adding a contemporary boutique finish throughout.
Rooms are individually decorated and vary considerably in size and outlook, from compact doubles to larger suites with high ceilings and tall sash windows. The hotel's Georgian Townhouse restaurant and bar occupy the grand ground-floor rooms and are popular with non-residents as well as guests.
The location is about as central as Norwich gets, a short walk from the market, the Lanes and the castle, and within easy reach of the main shopping streets, making it well suited to visitors without a car.
What guests say
We only used the restaurant, called De Dannon, and it was quite exceptional. Made possible by First Table, we enjoyed a meal for two. Beautifully cooked and presented, it tasted wonderful. It's central position in the city allowed a quiet evening walk afterwards. We are so pleased to review and promote this restaurant. Thank you for a great evening.

Absolutely fantastic food in the beautiful restaurant last night 22/5/26. Irish inspired food from the wonderful chef Darren. I had sea bass with layered potatoes asparagus broccoli spears and a delicious tomato and chive white sauce. My husband had beef brisket with potato Colcannon and cabbage (you have to see the picture) and two sides. I can’t stress enough how delicious and frankly beautiful these dishes were. Even the sides, Baby turnips, bacon, cashews and hot honey, also Seasonal vegetables - beans and sugar snap peas, were made with great love and attention. Service was brilliant and the waitress was genuinely friendly and impressed by her work environment and colleagues having been in hospitality for over ten years. All the staff were polite and made us feel welcomed and important. We had walked in about 3:30 pm to see if we could book a table for the same evening and the gentleman could give us 6pm, which was fine. Great to find staff available at this time. The food is cooked from scratch so they spread the guests so as not to overwhelm the chef. The decor is sophisticated and spacious. There was a private event in the courtyard but it did not impact our ability to hear each other and great to get some swing music in the background. I’m only sorry we didn’t have the energy to stay longer. Norwich felt safe walking back to our hotel. Next time we will stay at St. Giles House. Thank you.

St. Giles Hotel is a wonderful experience! We loved our 2 night stay here, and will be back! Fabulous location, we walked to all the great Norwich places. Staff are friendly and very helpful. The rooms and hotel lounge and restaurant are delightful history, updated to modern comfort. Thank you!

Lovely place – the food and cocktails were absolutely divine 🍸🍽️ The staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming, and the menu had great options, including a really good value two-course deal. Everything we had was beautifully presented and full of flavour. Service was excellent, there’s free Wi-Fi, and you don’t need to be a hotel guest to eat here – you can just turn up or book in advance. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back!
