Muthu Oban Hotel

2 out of 5 stars We stayed at the Muthu Regent Hotel for one night after making a last-minute booking for two rooms. Unfortunately, both rooms had the same issue with the shower drains. In one room, the shower drain overflowed during a normal shower, flooding the bathroom floor. We spent part of our evening cleaning up the water ourselves. In the second room, we noticed the drain beginning to back up as well and were only able to avoid another overflow by repeatedly turning the shower on and off to allow the water to drain. The front desk staff were courteous and offered to move us to different rooms. However, as we were a family already settled into two rooms for a single night, and needing to leave before 5:30 a.m. the next morning to catch an early ferry, moving rooms late in the evening was not a practical solution. At the front desk’s suggestion, I emailed the hotel manager that evening, explaining the situation and requesting a fair resolution. I also noted that we were leaving too early to benefit from breakfast or any food-and-beverage credit, and that we were not looking for compensation toward a future stay. Despite this, we never received any response from management. The staff we dealt with were polite and professional, but the lack of any follow-up from management was disappointing. Maintenance issues can happen in any hotel. What distinguishes a good hotel is how those issues are resolved. In our case, the plumbing issue affected both rooms, and our attempt to resolve the matter afterwards went unanswered.

We spent our anniversary at the Muthu Oban Regent, and the hotel truly made it unforgettable. A massive, heartfelt thank you to Ramona at reception—she gave us the warmest welcome and went completely above and beyond for us. We walked into our room to find beautiful swan towels, balloons, and chocolates waiting for us. It was such a thoughtful, lovely effort that made us feel incredibly special! ​The hotel's central waterfront location is unbeatable, our room was comfortable with a view of the harbour and the fabulous breakfast each morning was an absolute highlight with so many delicious options. Thank you, Ramona and team, for making our celebration so magical. We highly recommend this hotel!

Can't fault! We got a great deal for a very last minute trip and it didn't disappoint. Perfect location right on the esplanade, easy check in, beautiful interior, room was ideal... (Parking is hit or miss, very small allocation, but loads of parking across the street) Booked a room with view of the Mcaig tower but windows were a bit dirty, so not much of a view. But that's ok... Comfy bed, all the usual extras, well presented, nice! Room did get very warm though, oooft, a fan or ac wouldn't have gone amiss! Breakfast was great, cereals, buffet hot food, tea, coffee, juice, all the usuals, can't fault tbh. Would recommend Excellent wee stay in Oban, thank you 😊

Good hotel , nice view of the harbor from the restaurant and some rooms. Good breakfast ( Paid extra not included in the room price but discounts offered to guests). Biggest gripe was the hotel is lacking of sufficient parking only 4 parking spots and it's first come first served. One has to park on the street overnight which is free until 9am then go and pay for parking £1.60 for 2 hour limit.
