About The Manor House

The Manor House occupies a Georgian house built in 1780 by the 5th Duke of Argyll, set slightly apart from the town centre above the harbour with views over Oban Bay towards Kerrera, Lismore and Mull. The owner-run guest house pairs its elegant period rooms with a personal, attentive style of service.

Its restaurant has built a strong local reputation, serving Scottish dishes based on seafood landed nearby, and is popular with non-residents as well as hotel guests, particularly for dinner looking out over the bay.

The Gallanach Road position is a short walk from the town centre and harbour, offering a quieter, more historic setting than the esplanade or town centre hotels while remaining within easy reach of the ferry terminal and station.

We had a very enjoyable stay at The Manor House. Great location, we were doing the three island tour and it is an easy walk to the ferry station. The staff were all very helpful. Since we wouldn’t get back from our 3 isle tour until 8:15, David offered to made a reservation for us at a restaurant he recommended. (The Olive Garden, not the US chain ) After a long day it was located near the ferry terminal and we enjoyed a wonderful dinner.

The Manor House was a star of our month-long trip through Scotland in May. It's a lovely place with beautiful rooms, perfect breakfasts, and a wonderful downstairs lounge for drinks and small bites. We didn't have a car and it was an easy walk to town and to the ferry terminal. Oh, and did I mention the beautiful garden and views to the harbor and beyond? Most importantly, the staff couldn't have been more welcoming and accommodating. A particular thanks to David, a wonderful host, a helpful guide, and a charming conversationalist. I dream of returning....

We stayed at Manor House for 2 nights and absolutely loved it. From the moment we arrived until we left, every member of staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The house is not only beautiful from the outside, but also decorated inside with so much care and attention to detail. We’ve rarely seen such a lovely B&B. The lounge area with the fireplace is especially worth mentioning — definitely enjoy a drink there in the evening. David in particular can recommend the perfect drink and clearly has a lot of expertise! Our room (number 5) had a stunning view over the bay. It was spotless, and for women with long hair: the shower had excellent water pressure, which is always a bonus! The location is also great — very close to the town centre and the port, both only about a 5–10 minute walk away. We would absolutely stay here again anytime!

Amazing gem of a hotel, with beautiful views of the bay. The staff were all super helpful and nice, they even mailed my post for me the morning we left! The breakfast is fabulous, both food and service. Highly recommend this spot even if a splurge. We did not travel with a car and it was an easy walk from the train station and to the ferry.
