About voco - Oxford Thames

Down by the water on Henley Road, voco - Oxford Thames makes the most of its riverside setting, with landscaped grounds and outdoor seating that give the place a calmer feel than a typical city-centre hotel, while still keeping Oxford's attractions within easy reach. It's a substantial property, with 104 rooms including accessible options, each with an en-suite bathroom, and the sort of extras - room service, drinks in room, laundry service - that make longer stays comfortable.

There's a restaurant and bar on site serving breakfast and dinner, and an indoor swimming pool for guests who want to unwind without leaving the grounds. The gardens and picnic areas are a genuine draw, and the hotel also does duty as a wedding venue with meeting rooms available for other events. Housekeeping standards are generally solid, though a few visitors have found them a little inconsistent, so it's worth mentioning anything amiss at the time.

Parking is straightforward, which matters given the location slightly out from the centre, and there's a golf course, plus pubs and restaurants, nearby for those wanting to venture beyond the grounds. Staff are consistently described as attentive, which counts for a lot on a return visit.

Voco Oxford Thames is a wonderful retreat from the crowds of central Oxford. We stayed for a week and found it to be the perfect base for exploring the area. We used the local buses, taxis, and even enjoyed a fantastic small-group tour with Go Cotswolds to discover the surrounding countryside. At the end of each day, we loved sitting outside, taking in the peaceful surroundings and beautiful countryside. It was the perfect way to unwind after sightseeing. We enjoyed several casual dinners at the hotel, and the food was consistently very good. The staff were kind, welcoming, and always smiling, creating the warm atmosphere of a traditional country inn. Breakfast was also excellent, with a wide selection and attentive service. The gym is adequate for a workout, while the indoor pool is a real highlight. Our room was clean, comfortable, and overlooked the gardens, which made for a relaxing stay. If you're looking for a peaceful escape just a short distance from the hustle and bustle of Oxford's city center, Voco Oxford Thames is an excellent choice.

Another excellent dinner. The food was, once again, consistently high quality, delicious, well presented, and clearly prepared with care. The real highlight of the evening was the service. Kiera looked after us and was genuinely warm, authentic, and full of positive energy. Her enthusiasm and natural hospitality stood out and made us feel truly welcome, which feels increasingly rare these days. We were looked after so well from start to finish that it made an already great meal even more enjoyable. We’ll definitely be back again and again. Thank you, Kiera, for making our evening so special.
