A traditional tents-and-hookup site a ten-minute walk from Padstow Harbour

About Dennis Cove Campsite

Dennis Cove Campsite offers something increasingly rare: a simple, traditional camping field within easy walking distance of one of Cornwall's most popular harbour towns. Perched on sloping ground just off the Camel Trail, it's a ten-minute stroll into Padstow itself, close enough that you can leave the car behind and wander down for breakfast or an evening meal without the usual holiday logistics.

The site keeps things deliberately low-key—grass pitches with estuary views, clean modern facilities, and space for tents, campervans and smaller motorhomes, but no static caravans or on-site entertainment. That simplicity is precisely the appeal for walkers and cyclists tackling the Camel Trail, as well as families after a no-frills base near the harbour. Electric hook-ups are available on some pitches for a small supplement, and dogs are welcome.

Because of its size and prime location, Dennis Cove fills quickly in summer—book well ahead for July and August if you want to secure a pitch. The position makes it particularly handy for car-free visitors or anyone happy to park up and explore Padstow on foot for the duration of their stay.

What a great find! Beautifully kept site by Harry and his wife, with free sparkling shower and toilet blocks. The site was so quiet and at night it was lovely and dark. There’s a handy shortcut to the Camel Cycle trail where you can walk into Padstow in minutes. We used the site as a base for walking the SWCP, really handy. Stepped off the Rock ferry, into the Old Custom House for a welcome pint then a gentle easy walk back to site. Perfect!

stopped here while backpacking the south west coast path. Was really impressed. Excellent location, nice flat pitch. Very modern toilets and excellent warm shower. Little room just for hikers with kettle. Excellent value at £15 a night for backpackers. Would definitely stay again.

A beautiful little campsite on walking distance to Padstow in Cornwall. Amazing friendly staff (thanks Will) and fantastic facilities, all very clean. Most pitches had great views over the estuary and the site was next to the camel way. Will definitely be going back.
