Blairgowrie sits on the eastern edge of the Cairngorms National Park, where rolling farmland meets higher ground and the landscape shifts between working countryside and wilder terrain. Easter Caiplich cottages occupy landscaped woodland grounds in this setting, and Dalnagar Castle is a three-bedroom, two-bathroom property that sleeps five. The whole cottage is yours alone, with parking for two cars on site and a private hot tub available to use.

Ground floor accommodation centres on an open-plan kitchen, dining and living space where a 72-inch screen and Sky channels sit alongside cooking facilities that include electric oven and hob, microwave, washing machine and full-size fridge-freezer. Two of the three bedrooms have zip-and-link beds (configurable as twins or doubles); one also has an ensuite shower room, while the other shares a Jack-and-Jill bathroom with the third bedroom. A travel cot and highchair are available if needed. Beyond the French doors lies a large enclosed garden with furniture and views toward the surrounding woodland. Essentials including heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wi-fi are covered in your booking. One well-behaved pet is welcome. The grounds hold a fenced pond, so families with young children should be aware; there's also a natural water supply from a borehole rather than mains.

We stayed in Dalnaglar Cottage, it was lovely and quiet and the hot tub was great. The cottage could do with a bit of TLC though, the kitchen tap continually dripped, the bathroom light sometimes flickered and there was mould in the bathroom as the extractor fan didn't work. The heating also switched off about 7pm so it got very cold in the evenings. Tried to contact before booking and also before our arrival but to no avail. There was also only 1 tea bag provided, other places we've stayed in the past there has been tea&coffee provided so I had to survive caffeine free as wasn't worth buying a box of tea for a few days! The Glenshee cafe down the road was lovely, would recommend a stop there. Also the Persie gin distillery is great

Location was fantastic. Very nice and remote feeling yet with a closeness to services in Blairgowrie and Braemare. The cottage was lovely, with a very rustic feel which we loved. The hot tub was perfect for relaxing in and held temperatures well. Only downside were the beds which were quite uncomfortable. Great walking routes around the area which the dog loved. Can recommend lots!

I stayed in the castle with a group of friends for a long weekend. It was gorgeous - the castle is much bigger than I was expecting and very spacious despite some rooms / turrets being out of bounds. The team at Dalnaglar were very helpful and responsive. We booked 10 castle rooms, but one of them became unavailable at the last minute so we were given a room in the lovely Tower Cottage. We loved the fireplaces in the library and drawing room, and the large dining room. The loch on the estate is beautiful, and there's so much walking to do right on your doorstep without needing to get in a car.
