Keepers Cottage comes fully equipped for a week away without need for a shopping trip. The kitchen has an electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave and fridge-freezer; bed linen, towels, wi-fi and heating are all included. What makes it different is the private hot tub on the decking, which seats six and overlooks the woodland and landscaped grounds that surround the property—though the grounds are shared with other cottages on the estate.

The cottage spreads across two floors. Downstairs, an open-plan space combines kitchen, dining and living areas with a 70" Smart TV and access to the patio; two bedrooms at opposite ends can be arranged as twins or zip-linked into doubles, and they share a walk-in shower room. Upstairs, a third bedroom has a super kingsize bed (or two singles on request) and its own ensuite shower. The layout means families can spread out, with parking for two cars on site. One dog is welcome; the property is non-smoking.

The cottage sits near Blairgowrie on the southern edge of Cairngorms National Park, within reach of woodland walks and the wider landscape. There is a fenced pond in the grounds.

We stayed in Dalnaglar Cottage, it was lovely and quiet and the hot tub was great. The cottage could do with a bit of TLC though, the kitchen tap continually dripped, the bathroom light sometimes flickered and there was mould in the bathroom as the extractor fan didn't work. The heating also switched off about 7pm so it got very cold in the evenings. Tried to contact before booking and also before our arrival but to no avail. There was also only 1 tea bag provided, other places we've stayed in the past there has been tea&coffee provided so I had to survive caffeine free as wasn't worth buying a box of tea for a few days! The Glenshee cafe down the road was lovely, would recommend a stop there. Also the Persie gin distillery is great

Location was fantastic. Very nice and remote feeling yet with a closeness to services in Blairgowrie and Braemare. The cottage was lovely, with a very rustic feel which we loved. The hot tub was perfect for relaxing in and held temperatures well. Only downside were the beds which were quite uncomfortable. Great walking routes around the area which the dog loved. Can recommend lots!

I stayed in the castle with a group of friends for a long weekend. It was gorgeous - the castle is much bigger than I was expecting and very spacious despite some rooms / turrets being out of bounds. The team at Dalnaglar were very helpful and responsive. We booked 10 castle rooms, but one of them became unavailable at the last minute so we were given a room in the lovely Tower Cottage. We loved the fireplaces in the library and drawing room, and the large dining room. The loch on the estate is beautiful, and there's so much walking to do right on your doorstep without needing to get in a car.
