Dalnaglar Cottage is a detached whitewashed building with the character of an older property—shuttered windows, deep sills and exposed beams upstairs give it genuine presence. The grounds are shared woodland and lawned areas within the wider estate, with a stream and pond beyond the garden boundary. Two cars can park on the property, and one well-behaved dog is welcome.
Inside, the ground floor is open-plan: a combined kitchen and dining space flows into a sitting area with a wood burner and television. The kitchen has an electric cooker, dishwasher, washing machine and the usual equipment for self-catering. Two bedrooms are on this level—one can be configured as a super king or as two singles, the other as a single—and they share a walk-in shower room. Upstairs is a third bedroom with a pull-out single, and its own toilet. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and heating are provided, along with initial logs for the burner.
A heated hot tub for six sits on the decking outside, available at additional cost. The cottage suits families or groups of six; there are two steps to the entrance, and a travel cot and highchair can be arranged. No smoking indoors.

We stayed in Dalnaglar Cottage, it was lovely and quiet and the hot tub was great. The cottage could do with a bit of TLC though, the kitchen tap continually dripped, the bathroom light sometimes flickered and there was mould in the bathroom as the extractor fan didn't work. The heating also switched off about 7pm so it got very cold in the evenings. Tried to contact before booking and also before our arrival but to no avail. There was also only 1 tea bag provided, other places we've stayed in the past there has been tea&coffee provided so I had to survive caffeine free as wasn't worth buying a box of tea for a few days! The Glenshee cafe down the road was lovely, would recommend a stop there. Also the Persie gin distillery is great

Location was fantastic. Very nice and remote feeling yet with a closeness to services in Blairgowrie and Braemare. The cottage was lovely, with a very rustic feel which we loved. The hot tub was perfect for relaxing in and held temperatures well. Only downside were the beds which were quite uncomfortable. Great walking routes around the area which the dog loved. Can recommend lots!

I stayed in the castle with a group of friends for a long weekend. It was gorgeous - the castle is much bigger than I was expecting and very spacious despite some rooms / turrets being out of bounds. The team at Dalnaglar were very helpful and responsive. We booked 10 castle rooms, but one of them became unavailable at the last minute so we were given a room in the lovely Tower Cottage. We loved the fireplaces in the library and drawing room, and the large dining room. The loch on the estate is beautiful, and there's so much walking to do right on your doorstep without needing to get in a car.
