Pitlochry sits ten miles away, a Victorian town with a working festival theatre, two whisky distilleries, and year-round events from Highland Games to cycle races. The area around Lick Estate offers serious scope for outdoor activity: walking, cycling, sailing and fishing all feature within striking distance. Golden eagles, red deer, ospreys and pine martens inhabit the surrounding hills and woodland. The estate itself holds two private fishing lochs and a mile of accessible shoreline on Loch Tummel, with views across the water from the cottage grounds.

Farragon Cottage is a single-storey property that sleeps two, with one bedroom and one bathroom. The open-plan living space includes a wood-burning fire, television and French doors opening to a lawned garden with patio and barbecue. The kitchen is equipped for proper cooking rather than holiday shortcuts. Bed linen, towels, heating and electricity come as standard, along with wi-fi—useful in a rural setting where superfast 4G is also available. An enclosed garden and on-site parking complete the setup. One well-behaved pet is welcome. The cottage does not permit smoking.

Absolutely beautiful area on Loch Tummel in Perthshire. Follow the A9 just past the Pitlochry turn off on the right you will see the Fonnab Hotel and just past that on the right you come to the turn off for Foss. Take that road and follow for about 3 1/2 miles. Stunning views and great little places for wild camping, which I will be doing a bit of myself when I’m back on the motorcycle.
