About Drakes Wharf at Royal William Yard

Drakes Wharf occupies part of a Grade I listed warehouse within Royal William Yard, the former Royal Navy victualling yard on Plymouth's western waterfront that has been redeveloped into apartments, restaurants and gallery space while keeping its original granite bulk and dockside setting. The apartments look out over the marina and, from the upper floors, across Plymouth Sound towards Cornwall and the mouth of the Tamar.

Each apartment is finished to a contemporary standard, with fully equipped kitchens, comfortable living areas and good-quality furnishings, and configurations range from compact one-bedroom flats up to larger apartments suited to families or groups. Having a kitchen and living space rather than a single hotel room makes Drakes Wharf a practical choice for longer stays or for visitors who want to cook rather than eat out every night.

Royal William Yard itself supplies much of the appeal beyond the apartments, with a run of waterfront restaurants, bars and independent shops within the surrounding warehouses, and a passenger ferry linking directly across to the Barbican for those who want to explore the older part of the city without a car.

Drakes Wharf suits couples, families and groups who want more space than a conventional hotel room, along with a genuinely distinctive setting within one of Plymouth's most striking redevelopments. It is a short taxi ride or a scenic ferry crossing from the Hoe and Barbican, which is worth weighing up for visitors who want to be in the thick of the city's older streets each evening.

Booked this apartment in September 2024, disclosed we were disabled, asked for safty bathmats, arrived, no safty bathmats, property did not conform with disability legal requirements, it was dirty, the cooker was so greased up, pans were dirty and rusty. Building work started opposite from 7am until 4pm. Steve the M.D. was notified, was not interested. Left after his refusal to move us. I reported it to my credit card company, who checked, refunded all rental fee paid with compensation. I would advise not to use Plumlocations.

Honestly would reccomend Drakes Wharf as a goto location when visting Plymouth, the appartment had everything you could possibly require to enjoy a relaxing stay in a extreamly scenic setting and was styled to a high standard, also was suprising quiet given the amenities on tap within the Royal William Yard and a morning view of the harbour that was wonderful. On the day of our stay we were contacted by our property manager and every detail required was presented clearly making our visit very comfortable along with the instructions to get into the property and parking.

Your apartment is beautiful. Very compact and yet very spacious at the same time with plenty of storage space. The view was amazing and we witnessed a glorious sunset one evening. The shower was fab and the bed very comfortable. The area and buildings are wonderful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will recommend it. Just one tiny, tiny thing. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything we needed except....... a spoon with holes in to get poached eggs out of the pan. This truly is the only negative comment we can make and even that was no biggie. Thank you
