About Blueshutters
An Edwardian home turned guest house, Blueshutters occupies 109 North Road in Poole, Dorset, with a garden setting that gives the place a relaxed, homely feel rather than a polished hotel one. The rooms are simple and comfortable, with en-suite bathrooms and family rooms available for those travelling with children, plus drinks available in room for guests who want to settle in for the evening.
Mornings start with a full English breakfast, and the garden and outdoor seating area give guests somewhere to sit with a coffee or eat picnic-style when the weather allows. Free WiFi and 24-hour reception are on hand throughout the stay, and free on-site parking makes arriving by car straightforward.
Beyond the garden gate, Poole offers golf, fishing and a choice of pubs, bars and restaurants nearby, along with local entertainment options. It suits guests after an unfussy, laid-back base rather than a high-end retreat, with the emphasis firmly on comfort and a good breakfast to start the day.
What guests say
Very nice rooms with comfortable beds. Less sterile than the mainstream hotels, although the heating was a bit too high and the front-facing rooms suffer from traffic noise. Breakfast was very tasty; scrambled egg on toast isn't officially on the menu but they are flexible! Be warned that the en-suites contain only showers (no baths). All in all, I'd say this is an excellent place to stop over when catching a ferry the next day,

Very pleasant accommodation in a location handy to places of interest. The rooms are quite nice and comfortable with great tea and coffee making facilities and bottled water. Guests are well catered for at breakfast and throughout the day with milk, juice and other bits and pieces generally available. The front rooms, particularly on levels above ground are light and airy, but can be a bit noisy due to passing traffic. The dining room and garden areas are very nice and relaxing indeed. All in all, this establishment is well worth consideration when staying in lovely Poole.

For just a one night stay, we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the rooms and furnishings. A very clean, warm and friendly place to stay. Anita, Millie and Chef were very helpful indeed and special thanks goes to them. Breakfast was excellent. Local pubs and restaraunts were a 10 minute easy walk. 15 minutes to the ferry. Thanks again.

After a long time away for business means, I booked a nights stay for my girlfriend and I to stay at Blue Shutters. The reviews were very positive and the website made the place feel very professional. The rooms were spacious and modern. Lots of nice toiletries, tea, coffee and clean linen provided. The (free) breakfast options in the morning were great and full English was cooked to order which is a very nice touch. Chief and owner were both very friendly and a pleasure to talk to. Self check-in was a breeze and communication with the owner was brilliant - This put my mind at rest whilst travelling prior to our stay. In general, our stay was excellent and we couldn't recommend stopping here more, wether it's for one person, couples or even families! Definitely going to come back next time we're passing through Poole.
