What guests say
We had a wonderful visit. Lovely, large clean rooms with comfortable beds. Beautiful food and a really warm welcome that persisted throughout our stay. The attention to detail in the breakfast was great. Best tomato I've had. Really good location, completely beautiful. Great access to hills all around for walking and great access to Ullswater. Loved it.

We only stayed for the one night but we will definitely be back for longer. We stayed with our Dog and everything was perfect. Lovely grass area outside where you could enjoy a few drinks and let the dog roam. Then once the sun went in the bar area was very welcoming with a log burner. We had a great meal, thoroughly recommend the pie and Sticky Toffee pudding. Excellent portions and really delicious. The same could also be said for Breakfast which was freshly cooked and set us up well for the day. The room was fantastic. Looked like it had been recently updated (or at the very least cleaned to a high standard!). Comfy bed, lovely shower with great local toiletries and there was plenty of space for the dog. its a great location for exploring Ullswater and the surrounding fells. Much cheaper than staying in Keswick but the quality of everything means its such great value for money! We will be back.

Called in for a meal after a long hike up Great Dodd. We had the lamb shank which was fantastic, although not cheap. Dog friendly 👍🏻. The waiter who seemed to be European seemed more focused on rushing about looking busy than looking after customers, but after watching him for a period of time, didn't seem to be accomplishing anything? Didn't stay in a room so can't comment on the hotel part.

Staying locally whilst on holiday we popped in on a couple of evenings for dinner and we weren’t disappointed. Great staff and the food was typical good pub grub…(nothing fancy or pretentious),but good sized portions, with good service and well cooked. Very reasonably priced which makes it all the better.
