This is a straightforward, budget-friendly hotel on Ffordd Penamswer, suited to road-trippers, walkers and families who want somewhere affordable to sleep between days out rather than a destination in itself.
The hotel has 51 en-suite rooms spread across two floors, including accessible options, with drinks available in room and mountain views from parts of the building. There's a restaurant on site plus an electric vehicle charge point and free on-site parking at the front and side of the hotel, useful for anyone arriving with a car full of walking boots. Reception is staffed around the clock, and pets are welcome. One point worth noting is that rooms don't have air conditioning, so it may not suit those travelling in warmer weather.
Porthmadog itself puts guests within reach of Portmeirion and the wider Snowdonia coastline, with fishing, horse riding, walking areas and pubs, restaurants and entertainment all nearby. It works best as a comfortable, unpretentious stopover for people planning to spend their days outdoors and their evenings keeping things simple.

Stayed here with our dog as we arrived in Wales a day early. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean and modern. Would definitely recommend. There is a breakfast place 5 mins walk away, which was amazing called breaktimes.

Stayed over recently for a single night. The place was easy to find and there was plenty of space in the car park. On check in the staff were really friendly and were quick to serve us. Our room was one of the family rooms however we were just a couple so didn't use the extra beds. The room was nice and tidy and clean, the sheets were nice quality and there were no smells or other unpleasantries in the room. Some other have complained about the Travis Perkins but it really did not spoil the view of the farmlands that could be seen across the road. When we woke up we could see the farmers letting out sheep. There's no breakfast at this Travelodge and the to go breakfast is not worth the price. Luckily there's several supermarkets and cafes around to get breakfast. My only suggestion would be to add some EV chargers to the car park so that you can top up overnight, the nearest ones are in Tesco or Porthmadog station but they are limited in numbers.

As usual a clean functional room, small TV though, easy refills for tea and coffee at the reception. Free parking at the hotel and a vending machine for snacks though expensive in my opinion. Well placed for accessing Portmadog and the surrounding countryside

Nice size car park, friendly welcome at reception. Excellent standard of room with USB A and C charging sockets either side of the bed. Close to the town centre where there's plenty of shops and restaurants. Highly recommend, I'll stay here again when on business in the area. Beck again in a few weeks, for 3 nights. Friendly service on reception by Mollie, Emlyn and Tasha.
