About Golden Fleece Inn
The Golden Fleece Inn sits on Tremadog's handsome Georgian market square, less than a mile from Porthmadog and around three miles from Portmeirion. It combines guest rooms and holiday cottages with a restaurant and bar built around the inn's own butchery, London House Stores.
Rooms and suites are contemporary in style, and the covered, heated beer garden extends the inn's dining space through cooler months. The kitchen leans on locally sourced meat and seasonal Welsh produce, with a Visit Wales four-star rating for its food.
Its Tremadog location makes it a practical base for exploring both Portmeirion and Porthmadog on foot, while staying within a short drive of Snowdonia National Park to the north.

What guests say
It’s okay to be honest. It’s not award winning but it certainly could be! Cute little rooms, tidy with adequate bathrooms (but with macerated toilets). Toilets being flushed woke me a few times but other than that I can’t say it’s good or bad. When we arrived the two on reception couldn’t find our reservation, followed by success, then couldn’t find our dinner reservation, despite having email communication between my partner and reception! Made for an awkward and poor start! Food was okay as well! Good portions… met a nice guy from the Wirral on the table next, he was really happy with his meal the night before but had to order a starter on our night because he said the portions were huge! So I ordered the same as him and as you can see they are just normal 😀 ignore the chips! They weren’t mine! The location is great, parking is available outside, there are some lovely walks out and about from the hotel! Great for Porthmadog!

Popped in for an Eggs Benedict on passing, had the dog too...so them allowing dogs made it possible as it was too hot to leave him in the car. Food was lovely and staff were excellent, dog had some treats and water and the place was clean and really well presented. Highly recommend here.

The room was wonderful, and we were even fortunate enough to receive an upgrade. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was exceptional. The bathtub provided a whirlpool-like experience, and the shower had perfect water pressure, exactly right. The service throughout our stay was warm, friendly, and attentive. The only disappointment was the breakfast. The porridge was a convenience cup and was served directly in the paper container, which felt more like a campsite or youth hostel experience than a hotel breakfast. Simply transferring it to a bowl before serving would have made a big difference. The Eggs Benedict were also disappointing, as both the bread and the hollandaise sauce were cold. On the other hand, the Eggs Royal (which we ordered without hollandaise sauce) were very good. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend this hotel. However, you may want to consider having breakfast at one of the cafés in Porthmadog instead.

What a perfect getaway spot!! We celebrated my husbands 30th Birthday there, we wanted a cute, quiet weekend of adventure and that’s exactly what we got. Sara, Darren, Keiran and the rest of the team were flawless and attentive hosts. We stayed in their ground floor king suit and it was more than you could imagine. A separate lounge area, kingsize bed, whirlpool bath and separate shower with our private courtyard. What more could you ask for? An added bonus was the fact that there was beer garden access from our room , (lockable from your courtyard). We knew how much we would love the stay we extended our stay on day one! The pub itself served fresh good food and they catered for my coeliac disease without fault or hesitation. The atmosphere was a cosy, welcoming local pub with people popping in and out. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and can’t wait to plan our return trip in the summer!! Thank you again to all of the team, the passion and drive you have to make a successful business work didn’t go unnoticed! Tessa & Jack
