What visitors say
Cassiobury Park to help you plan your day. As Watford's largest public park, it covers over 190 acres and offers a fantastic balance of open green spaces, family activities, and nature walks. To help you make the most of your time there, here are a few key highlights and practical tips: - The Miniature Railway: A major highlight for families run by volunteers. It costs £3 per ride and operates from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, offering a charming trip through the wooded areas of the park. - Playgrounds and Splash Areas: The park features two large play areas. The Hub Playground, located near the Cha Café, includes modern climbing frames and a popular splash park for warm summer days. The Lower Playground is located near the paddling pools and is ideally suited for younger children. - Food and Drink Options: You can visit the independent Cha Café near the Hub for sandwiches, cakes, and coffee, though it does get busy around lunchtime. There are also various kiosks and ice-cream vans scattered throughout the grounds, alongside excellent open fields if you prefer to bring a picnic. - Walks and Wildlife: The Grand Union Canal runs directly alongside the park, providing scenic waterside walks where you can watch narrowboats. For a quieter experience, you can explore the nature reserve situated at the far end of the park. - Parking Details: The park offers up to 2 hours of free parking, but please remember that you must obtain a ticket from the machine even for the free period. Paid parking options are available if you plan to stay longer than 2 hours. A wonderful visit. Highly recommended

Cassiobury Park absolutely lives up to its reputation as one of the UK’s Top 10 favourite parks and a Green Flag Award winner! The expansive green spaces and woodland trails are perfect for a peaceful walk or spending quality time with family. There is so much to do, from the playgrounds and splash park to the miniature railway. As someone who appreciates a good cup of coffee, I loved that there are convenient cafes on-site to grab a drink while enjoying the scenery. Make sure you don't miss the giant cedar tree—it's a breathtaking spot to catch the sunset. Plus, the two hours of free parking makes visiting incredibly easy. Highly recommended!

A fantastic day out for all ages! Cassiobury Park is a real gem – huge, beautifully maintained green spaces, lovely cafe, paddling pools, and playgrounds. But the highlight for our family was the brilliant miniature railway. Run by volunteers, it’s charming, affordable (£3), and such a hit with kids (and grown-ups too!). The train winds through the park and gives you a lovely relaxed tour. We rode it twice! Whether you're after a peaceful walk, a picnic, or family fun, this park delivers. Free entry, but pay for parking! Loads to do. Highly recommended.
