Broccoli Bottom - Fennel Folly
Rutland

Rutland's smallest county sits around you here, seven acres of open countryside the immediate backdrop. Fennel Folly is one of four properties on the grounds, reached via 14 steps to the first-floor entrance. The whole place is yours alone: two bedrooms (one with a zip-and-link super-king bed convertible to singles, one with two single beds), a bathroom with bath and shower, and an open-plan living space combining kitchen, dining and sitting areas. A balcony overlooks the surrounding fields.
The kitchen has an electric oven, gas hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge, so you can cook proper meals or keep things simple. Freeview TV in the living area, Wi-Fi throughout, heating, bed linen and towels are all sorted. You have parking for two cars on site and a small garden with furniture outside. One dog is welcome on a lead.
The location matters most here. A short walk takes you onto the Rutland Water circular path—manageable sections for a stroll, or the full 24-mile route if you're equipped for it. The village pub sits handily along the way. Oakham itself, with its antique shops and cafés, is three miles off. The water itself offers sailing, canoeing, paddle boarding, windsurfing and fishing, while the nature reserve hosts the Rutland Osprey Project. No smoking inside the property.

Great place to stay if you are visiting Rutland. Central with easy access to all sites in the area. Lots to do and see. Local pub is about 11 min walk away but up hill walk going. Local restaurants and pub food of high quality. Great facilities in cottage which will sleep 6 in two bedrooms. Fridge, Freezer, microwave and dishwasher. Very clean.

Booked last minute to get away from a horrible hotel & found this little bit of paradise. Lovely room with nice, big, comfy bed. Well placed for visiting Oakham, Rutland Water & other beautiful Rutland sites. Very relaxed surroundings. Highly recommended.

We had the pleasure of staying in the Mange Tout apartment for 2 nights. It was perfect for a family of 4 with 2 bedrooms and a lovely little outside area. The views were great, beds comfy. We visited the local pub, Horse & Jockey, and had a lovely dinner. Also had 2 brilliant breakfasts in Oakham - The Larder & The Hungry Birds. Topped our visit with a day in Stamford and lunch in the coutyard of The George and Rutland Aqua Park. Fab couple of days- thank you.

We love this place and visit regularly. Friendly and efficient owner. A few minor decor touch ups needed but beautiful accommodation in a lovely and quiet setting within walking distance of a local pub and just off the Rutland water cycle path. We will definitely be staying again in the future and would recommend to everyone going to the area.
