Lower Canterbury House
Scottish Borders
Gattonside is a quiet village across the river from Melrose, which sits on the banks of the Tweed in the heart of the Scottish Borders. Lower Canterbury House occupies a ground-floor position down a lane, with its own parking and a south-facing garden with a summer house opposite the main building.
The whole property is yours alone. Inside, an open-plan living area combines the lounge, kitchen and dining space, with a bedroom containing a kingsize bed, a bathroom with both bath and shower, and a utility room. The kitchen has a gas hob and electric oven; the lounge has a television. Bed linen, towels, wi-fi and heating are included. There is a pub within a mile of the property.
Melrose itself—a 15-minute walk away—has independent shops, restaurants and cafés along its streets. The ruins of Melrose Abbey date to 1136; Abbotsford, home of Sir Walter Scott, is also nearby. The Eildon Hills offer walking routes across the surrounding countryside. Smoking is not permitted inside.
