Legado

I’ve been to Legado three times now, and it’s fast become one of my absolute favourite places to eat in London — maybe even the world! Nieves and Marcus are the most wonderful hosts; their warmth and hospitality make you feel completely at home from the moment you arrive. I love both sides of Legado: the laid-back, effortlessly charming taberna and the stunning, light-filled restaurant. Both stylish as hell and warm and welcoming. And then there’s the food. Impeccable. Nieves takes family recipes and cooks them with such breathtaking refinement, without ever losing the heart and soul that makes them so special. Everything feels generous, thoughtful and completely delicious. Truly every plate is beautiful. Shout out to Marcus for an expertly curated wine list that is vibrant, interesting and full of character, with every bottle feeling like it’s been chosen with real care and purpose. The recommendations are always spot-on, perfectly complementing the food while introducing you to something you might not have discovered yourself. 🍷✨ A truly special restaurant run by truly lovely people. Absolutely wonderful Spanish tapas and what you might expect from a 1 Michelin star restaurant. A beautifully decorated, large dining hall with the front of it comprising a bar where diners could have more snacky type fare. The quality of the food was absolutely superb. I'm a sucker for octopus but also aware that very few places do it right. Well Legado's was absolutely superb with the top nice and crispy while the middle was so tender. Oddly enough, one could say the same about the sourdough bread where the crust was amazingly crispy whereas the rest was so so soft and just wonderful, served warm. Every dish was exceptional, particularly the leeks escabeche and the stuffed squid. The red sangria was wonderful too and if it had been dinner I would have liked to try their sherry too. If it had been dinner I might have been tempted by the roast suckling pig too though if you order such a hefty dish you might not have space for others. The roasted pork belly was a slight disappointment as I felt it lacked flavour and the pan con tomate was alright but very much overpriced - and the waitress was keen that I order more of it. I'm glad I didn't as the sourdough bread was far better - and in fact the pan con tomate wasn't a patch on what I've had in Spain. Otherwise this was a truly exceptional meal although of course at 65 quid a head it was by no means cheap.

The standout dishes were bursting with flavour and perfectly executed, while the wine selection complemented the meal wonderfully. The atmosphere struck the perfect balance between stylish and relaxed, making it ideal for both a special occasion and a casual night out. Service was warm, knowledgeable, and attentive throughout the evening, with staff happy to explain the origins and stories behind the dishes. A truly memorable dining experience that transports you across Spain without leaving London. Highly recommended and definitely worth a return visit!

Amazing Spanish fare. As we were a part of a large group we were able to eat/taste most of the menu. The suckling pig and lamb dishes were enough for at least 4 people. We over ordered thinking the recommended size would not be enough for our party of 6. Standouts for me were the black vermecelli pasta, the sweat reads, the brioche with anchovi, the skate tortilla and the dish of the night...the monkfish fritters. Yum
