South Derbyshire's National Forest draws walkers and nature-lovers year round, with country paths leading from the village of Netherseal through woodland and past traditional pubs. Petals Cottage sits just outside this village, a single-storey ground-floor property attached to the owner's home, where you'll have your own completely private entrance and space. The cottage sleeps two in a double bedroom and includes a bathroom with both bath and shower cubicle.
The open-plan living area and kitchen flow together, with an electric wood burner for evenings and French doors opening onto the garden where you can sit out with views across the countryside. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering—oven, hob, dishwasher and microwave all there. Parking for one car is on site, and essentials like electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included. One dog is welcome to stay. The property is non-smoking.
The Peak District lies within a short drive, and closer still are forestry centres offering everything from archery to bird-of-prey displays. Historic houses including Calke Abbey and Shugborough Hall are nearby, as is the National Memorial Arboretum. Most mornings you can walk straight out across farmland and into the woods from the cottage door.
