Overall: Great place to climb and definitely worth a visit. I will absolutely be coming back! Location & Transport: Excellent location. There is free parking (3hrs max, need to register car on tablet by the entrance), but it’s limited, so I recommend public transport. It’s only a 10-minute walk from Clapham North station and a 2-minute walk from the nearest bus stop. Convenient indoor bicycle storage is also available on the ground floor. The Climbing: The gym has a very spacious layout with more than enough routes for both beginners and advanced climbers. The main climbing is on the ground floor, with a few extra walls upstairs. Grading is numbered (easy to hard) rather than using V-levels, but the difficulty is on par with most other gyms. The upstairs warm-up area is large and has everything you need (they are currently doing some construction to expand it even further). Vibe & Cleanliness: Highly recommended for families or first-timers. The facilities (toilets, showers, and seating) are incredibly clean and well-maintained, and thankfully there isn't chalk flying everywhere. The staff are great, and the other climbers are friendly—it's a great environment to meet new people. Food & Cafe: There’s a large, reasonably priced cafe by the reception with a great selection of vegetarian and vegan options, smoothies, and coffee. The chips were fantastic, though my pepperoni pizza was a bit disappointing as it needed more sauce and toppings. Personally, I’d skip eating a full meal here and just walk 5-10 minutes down the road where there are plenty of excellent (slightly pricier) restaurants.

I am only commenting on the pizzas here today. The area this Sunday afternoon was comfortable, and the staff was polite. The politeness extended to discussing with me the lengthy preparation of my pizza (more than 30 minutes) and the need to reduce one of the ingredients. The vegan pizza I had was tasty, and the vegan cheese was great, together with the artichokes, and a hint of garlic. I imagine it would have been even nicer with the broccoli as originally intended.

THE BEST indoor bouldering gym in London for the facilities, setting and supportive community! I’ve been to many gyms in the city but this one really has it all. From the studio classes to the discounts and countless events, it’s clear that Substation really cares about making their members feel cared for. Annnd their cafe has really tasty pizza too which is always a nice to have after a big session!!!! (most gyms only have snacks but at subs you’ll never go hungry)

Hands down the best climbing community around. Met so many amazing people since I started climbing there in 2022. It's a great place to climb, work out, grab a coffee or pizza, get some work done, or just hang out. And it's gotten even better with the addition of the sauna and cold plunge! Most importantly, the staff is lovely and caring too. They've really helped shape the place into what it is today.
