I never leave reviews but I thought Athol House deserved one. What an amazing 4 days I had staying here. I felt comfortable, safe and the manager in particular was outstandingly friendly. This man may never truly know the impact he himself has had on me staying there under his care. Also, his breakfasts are amazing! Thank you again sir and I will definitely be returning in the future!

Excellent service and warm welcome from Geoff and Duncan. Room cosy and clean and a good breakfast included to set me up. Very reasonable prices. Will return if ever back in lovely South Shields.

Host Duncan was amazing , nothing to much of problem the property was secure and safe for the kids . Everything was clean and fresh and in the evening was lovely warm . Location was great not too far from anything to be honest , breakfast was fab and cooked fresh . Only thing and is a small minor detail , would be fab if the Mirror was a little bit bigger to see out outfits and do our hair and make up a bit closer up but this is a small suggestion. But all in all we loved it great job Duncan will be visiting again in the near future.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights. We always try to stay at a small independent business rather than Hotel chains, to put back into the community. Well we stayed with Duncan who was an absolute gem. The room with en suite was huge, a small fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, fresh soft towels and toiletries. The shower was powerful and the water was lovely and hot.There were plenty of sockets bedside touch lamps and a large warm radiator which made the room welcoming and relaxing. In the morning there was cereals and a warm freshly cooked breakfast made individually for us full English for me and scrambled eggs,beans and toast for my wife. Fresh orange and fresh coffee. Duncan you were polite friendly and a Gentleman and we thankyou. We will definitely be back for a stay when we visit family again. As for the price outstanding value for money and worth more.
