Whitley Bay Holiday Park

The caravan itself was clean, comfortable and well maintained. The location is great and it’s a good budget-friendly option. However, we didn’t really enjoy the overall environment. It felt more like a residential/council estate than a holiday park, and the atmosphere was very quiet in the evenings, with most people going to bed around 10pm. As it was the school holidays, our children didn’t really feel they had the freedom to stay up and enjoy the evening. The swimming pool also felt quite old and would benefit from some refurbishment and modernisation. Overall, a great location and good value for money, but the atmosphere and facilities could be improved to make it feel more like a holiday park.

Great site, everything me and my partner needed. The caravans are well equipped and comfortable. They are so good, we have already booked a 8 day break two months after we got back. Great site, nice and clean and we can take our pet too.

⭐☆☆☆☆ Our family holiday was completely ruined by the condition of the accommodation and the way our concerns were handled. We booked a dog-friendly Silver Grade caravan for four nights and travelled around 200 miles (a five-hour journey) with our toddler to spend time with family. After checking in and returning later that evening, we discovered the bedroom had an overwhelming smell of ammonia. The fumes were so strong that our eyes were watering, and it was impossible to sleep in the room. We were extremely concerned about exposing our young child to such a strong chemical smell. At 1:30am we had to call the emergency out-of-hours number. Security offered us another caravan, but this one was even worse, smelling strongly of ammonia and cigarette smoke. With no suitable accommodation available, we had no choice but to sleep on the living room floor of the original caravan, finally getting some rest after 4am. The following morning, reception staff showed very little empathy. Initially, we felt as though our concerns weren't being taken seriously until the cleaning manager inspected the caravan herself and admitted there was a strong smell of ammonia. A further alternative caravan was unsuitable due to my partner's accessibility needs and also had an unpleasant smell. After lengthy discussions, we eventually secured a full refund, but by then our holiday was over. We had no option but to drive the 200 miles home the next day, meaning our young children had to endure another long journey less than 24 hours after arriving. We also wasted around £143 in fuel for a 400-mile round trip and lost precious time with family. While we appreciate the accommodation refund, it doesn't make up for the ruined holiday, the stress, lack of sleep, additional costs, or the way the situation was handled. We were left questioning how a caravan in that condition was considered fit for guests. This was an incredibly disappointing experience, and unfortunately, we won't be returning.

Excellent location, 5 minute walking distance to Whitley Bay beach and st Mary’s light house. No shops around it though, 5 minute drive to Whitley bay. We stayed in a dog friendly silver caravan. It was spacious and fairly clean . There was a lot of stains on the carpet which put me off a tad and this made it feel dirty. The beds were comfy and the caravan site was quiet. Lots of space for parking the car near the caravan. The shower was very warm and powerful, probably better than home. We stayed for 4 nights when our house was getting renovated and it did its job.
