About Kingsmere Guest House

Kingsmere Guest House occupies a Victorian townhouse on Urfa Terrace in South Shields, its period façade giving way to a set of compact, individually furnished rooms that keep something of the building's original character. Each room comes with an en-suite bathroom, free WiFi and in-room drinks, and reception is staffed around the clock for anyone arriving at odd hours.

Mornings start with a full English breakfast, and there's a bar on site for a drink later in the day. Pets are welcome, which makes it a practical base for guests travelling with dogs, and the surrounding area offers plenty to fill the rest of the stay: golf, fishing, cycling and watersports are all nearby, alongside pubs, restaurants and other entertainment.

It suits visitors after a straightforward, well-located stay in South Shields rather than a grand hotel experience, with the guest house's Victorian character forming much of its appeal.

Going Mad

Had a lovely time here! The room was nice and cool despite the heat wave (fan was provided in the room but not required with the windows open). The room had everything I would have wanted facilities-wise (and even a fluffy robe), the breakfast was a generous portion cooked exactly how I had requested. The Guest house is next to the park, a few streets back from the pubs and restaurants (so quiet), there is a swimming pool nearby and the marine college is a half hour walk away. Would recommend.

Lovely guest house, spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. We stayed in a family room at the back of the house, again spotless, well decorated, warm and cosy. The bed was comfortable and we had a good sleep. The dining room was light and airy, loved the 'clock' wall, breakfast was very tasty, we had the full English which was a generous portion and more than enough to keep us going. We didn't see much of the owner Paul but he was friendly and welcoming when we did see him. Overall 10/10 from us and would definitely recommend a stay here.

Fabulous, Me and my partner stayed for 2 nights for a wedding in South Shields and we both really enjoyed our stay. Everything was spot on, the gentleman who greeted us was very helpful and friendly, the place was very clean and tidy. The decor is beautiful and the little bar area is so unique and quirky with a great selection of drinks and board games for unwinding. Unfortunately we didn’t opt for the breakfast as we had other arrangements but we will certainly be returning to try it out! The bed was super comfy, tea and coffee on hand and we had a private bathroom next to our room. We originally planned on staying at a hotel and I personally hadn’t stayed in a b&b before so I was delighted that my first experience was so comfortable. Great location and everything you could want and need for your stay, would highly recommend staying at the Kingsmere. Thank you!
