About The Pilgrim Inn
Breakfast is where The Pilgrim Inn earns its keep, with guests regularly singling out the morning spread as a highlight, and the restaurant and bar keep that same reputation going through the day, serving food in a relaxed pub setting. It's worth noting that some find the menu prices a touch steep, so it's not the cheapest place to eat, but the quality is rarely in question.
The hotel itself has 14 rooms on Hythe Road in Southampton, each kept comfortable and clean with the basics guests actually need, including free WiFi and air conditioning. Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, and the overall atmosphere leans towards that of a proper pub rather than a corporate hotel, right down to the garden for a quieter pint or coffee.
Beyond the food and drink, there's a lift for easier access, laundry service, luggage storage, and free on-site parking, useful for anyone exploring Southampton's coast and attractions. The property also welcomes pets and hosts weddings, and there are further pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby for those who fancy a change of scene.
What guests say
Accommodation Check-in went smoothly. However, when we entered the room, there was a strong unpleasant smell. The room was also very hot. We tried to get the air conditioning fixed, but we were told that someone had already checked it on the roof and that it simply wasn’t working. The windows are poorly designed and cannot be properly opened, so it’s not possible to ventilate the room. There was a fan, but it didn’t help much with the situation. Breakfast The coffee was very good. However, the food took quite a long time to arrive. In my opinion, the portions (full healthy, coconut French toast) were rather small, although they tasted good. There was also a small buffet available with items like croissants and yogurt to help fill you up. Overall impression For the price, we would at least expect the air conditioning to work. The breakfasts were nice, and the rooms are well furnished. Overall, the place has an interesting atmosphere (in a good way).

I have stayed several times at the Pilgrims Inn and every time the service has been amazing. The rooms are beautifully decorated, really clean and have everything you need from coffee machine, kettle, ironing board , hairdryer, fan etc. The food is incredible, having tried both the evening menu and the breakfast (which is by far the best full English I have ever eaten!!) I can honestly say that every meal I have had there has been perfectly cooked and delicious. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

Perfect stay. Beautiful Country pub in a lovely location. Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean. Bed and pillows were perfect. Our meal was amazing, hot, tasty and plenty. Great choice on the menu. Breakfast was perfect too with plenty to choose from. Highly recommended.

The Pilgrim Inn is a lovely pub/hotel on the outskirts of Southampton. The room was nice, although the ceiling was a little low in places for tall people like my husband and I. The bathroom was lovely, but the bottom of the shower door and around the drain was scaled up and looked not very nice. The bed was lovely and comfortable Only thing they could have is instructions for the heating system, as the room was rather cold when we first arrived. The food in the pub was nice but expensive, the breakfast was lovely. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. The area was nice and quiet, there is quite a busy road that runs close by but its not that loud. All in all a nice stay.
