About White Star Tavern & Dining Rooms
The White Star Tavern occupies a historic building on Oxford Street, the old town street named after the White Star Line whose Southampton offices once stood nearby, giving the pub its Titanic-era name. Downstairs is an award-winning pub and dining room serving refined pub classics made from fresh, seasonal Hampshire ingredients, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day.
Upstairs, three styles of bedroom, named Comfy, Cosy and Snug Cabins, come with air conditioning and complimentary breakfast, giving guests a boutique inn experience right above one of the city's most respected gastropubs. The pub, operated by Fuller's, also hosts private events and welcomes families and assistance dogs.
Its position on Oxford Street puts guests in the heart of Southampton's main independent dining strip, within easy walking distance of Ocean Village, the old town walls and the city centre, making it a good base for visitors who want to eat well without needing to travel far from where they sleep.

LOVED this hotel! Great staff throughout. A gentleman named Prince was so nice and very helpful at check in. The quality of the restaurant food for lunch was excellent as was the included breakfast the next day. Quaint and attractive room with a walk in shower. Well appointed (robes, coffee, tea, even milk, waters, etc.). Loved the other restaurants and a small casino on this street. We were in room 9 which was a really nice size. I highly recommend this hotel.

We are staying here prior to getting on our cruise ship. Rooms are a tad small but have all of the amenities. Great history too! Bar is nice and the food is great. Staff is super friendly and always smiling. There is no elevator, so hauling all your bags up 4 flights of tight stairwells is a bit exhausting. I would definitely recommend and return.

We had the most amazing girls dinner at The White Star Tavern in Southampton, and honestly, everything was incredible. The service was warm and attentive from start to finish, the ambiance was cosy yet stylish, and the food completely exceeded expectations. The prawns were cooked to perfection, fresh, juicy and full of flavour, the lamb was unbelievably soft and absolutely bursting with rich, delicious flavours. And the desserts… wow! The perfect ending to an already fantastic meal. All in all, such a lovely spot for dinner, drinks and catching up with friends. I’ll happily return here again and again.

I had an excellent stay at the White Star Tavern and highly recommend it, especially for anyone sailing from Southampton. The location is perfect — minutes from the cruise terminals and walkable (7-8 mins). It’s set on a lovely street of cafés, bars and good selection of places to eat,its lively but relaxed! There’s also a supermarket just a couple of minutes away, which was ideal for picking up a few last-minute cruise essentials! A special mention to Bridget and the whole team, who couldn’t have been more friendly, welcoming and helpful throughout my stay. Best have known in a hotel for years - thank you. I had dinner in the restaurant the menu had a great choice of dishes — generous portions and very good value. The breakfast the next morning was beautiful and set me up perfectly! The room (upgraded which was really appreciated) was lovely, very comfortable and the bed was excellent — exactly what you want before a cruise 👍 Overall a fantastic stay and the perfect start to my holiday. Thanks to all the team - I will definitely be back.
