About Agnes Blackadder Hall

North Haugh sits on the edge of St Andrews, a quiet stretch of the town where Agnes Blackadder Hall makes the most of the space around it, offering free on-site parking and an easy approach for anyone arriving by car. With 494 rooms, it's one of the larger places to stay in the area, and the scale means it works equally well as a wedding venue or a base for meetings, with dedicated function rooms alongside the usual guest facilities.

Rooms come with the standard comforts expected of a hotel this size, and guests have access to a restaurant and bar on site, along with breakfast and free WiFi. A lift serves the building, and luggage storage is available for those arriving early or leaving late. It's a practical setup rather than a boutique one, geared towards groups, functions and travellers who want everything under one roof.

Leuchars lies around five miles away, useful for anyone travelling by rail, and Dundee Airport is within reach for those flying in. St Andrews itself, with its coastline and golfing heritage, is close by for guests wanting to explore beyond the hotel grounds.

Booking was very easy, and the price can't be beat. The rooms are very basic, but clean, and have a desk and closet for storage. The onsite breakfast and bar were both very good, the bar is limited to pizza and burgers. The walk into town is 10-15 min depending on where you're headed. For a golf trip it was everything I needed.

I’ve stayed here twice, once in 2023 with my partner, and again in 2025 with one of my friends. The double rooms are a tad cramped, but comfortable nonetheless. A double bed, a desk, chair, wardrobe, TV and en-suite. For a 2 night stay it was more than enough. The twin rooms however are far superior to the double rooms. Two double beds, two full sized desks and two large wardrobes. As well as an en-suite bathroom. Our room was incredibly spacious. The TV didn’t seem to work however we never bothered to complain about it as we would only be using the room for sleeping. The shower facilities are a bit outdated and could do with a facelift, but they serve their purpose. A buffet breakfast is included with your rooms and it’s incredible. The variety of food available is brilliant, ranging from cooked breakfast items, to continental and fresh fruits. There is something for everyone. Newspapers are delivered to foyer, which is great, as the WiFi is practically nonexistent. The bar is limited in choice, and pricey. But if you’re travelling to St Andrews just to drink in a student hall bar, more fool you I suppose. Overall in my two stays here I’ve struggled to find anything to complain about. Would book again. You get what you pay for.
