About The Albany Hotel
The Albany occupies a Georgian townhouse at 56 North Street, which puts it about as centrally as it is possible to stay in St Andrews. St Salvator's Quadrangle is opposite, the cathedral is a five-minute walk east, the Old Course a similar distance west, and the shops and restaurants of Market Street are one block behind.
There are twenty-two bedrooms, a mixture of singles, doubles and twins, king rooms and a pair of suites, all individually decorated in a traditional style that suits the age of the building. As with most conversions of this type the rooms vary in size and shape, and the quietest tend to be those at the rear away from North Street, which is worth requesting for a weekend stay.
The hotel is family-run in feel and the service is the reason most guests come back, with breakfast in the front dining room and a small bar and lounge for a drink afterwards. There is no on-site car park, so you will be relying on the pay-and-display bays on North Street or the Petheram Bridge car park a short walk away. For anyone arriving by train to Leuchars and taking the bus in, that is no drawback at all.

Absolutely no value for $$$$, 500 pounds a night gets you not a hotel room but a sleeping pod, too small to open a suitcase, bathroom the size of an airplane loo and an Eco shower on a 3 minutes timer. The cold water only shower that quits after 10 seconds. Very friendly staff that tells you that's too bad and nothing they can do about it. Climate control in the room doesn't work either. No reading light or bedside lamp, have to stumble about in the dark or bring your own flash light. All that for mere 500 hundred pounds...enjoy!!

Delightful experience - with genuinely pleasant and enthusiastic staff that actually enjoyed working there. Quaint fireplace, and charm to it. Am sure will return :) Also exceptional value.

3-star hotel with a poor value for money. We spent one night at The Albany Hotel in beautiful St. Andrews. The Hotel is old and very centrally located, with some free parking spaces available in front of the building. The staff was warm and helpful throughout our stay. The interior is simple but functional. The rooms are small, a bit outdated, and not very soundproof, but everything was reasonably clean and in working order. The breakfast was simple and not a highlight. At £211 for the night, the price was definitely too high for a 3-star hotel, leading to a poor value for money and an overall rating of 2 out of 5.
