About The Cornwall Hotel Spa & Estate
Anyone after a slow-paced few days built around a spa and decent food, rather than sightseeing from dawn till dusk, will find The Cornwall Hotel Spa & Estate on Pentewan Road does the job well. It's equally suited to couples wanting a relaxing weekend or families who need a pool and a garden to let children run around in, with the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan close enough for an afternoon out if the weather allows.
The 65 rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and room service, and family rooms and accessible rooms are available for those who need them. The spa is the clear centrepiece, with a heated indoor pool, sauna, steam room and gym, while the restaurant and bar handle meals, with breakfast including a good spread of options and kids' menus catering for younger guests. A snack bar, outdoor seating and picnic area make use of the grounds, and there's a lift, laundry service and free on-site parking to smooth over the practical side of a stay.
Staff are generally attentive and the grounds are a genuine draw for wandering or sitting outside, though service has been known to vary at busier times. Beyond the estate itself, the surrounding area offers golf, fishing, cycling and walking routes, along with pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby for evenings out.

Having a fantastic Spa weekend. The hotel is very clean, staff accommodating and very friendly. The breakfast is worth the money and most of all the spa treatments are a must. I have had a couple of different treatments with the lovely Cheyanne (I would definitely ask for her if you are booking anything). I am sure the other ladies are equally amazing. She also gave me some recommendations for local beaches and where to get a good Cornish pasty. I would 100% recommend anyone looking to stay in or around St Austells. I am already looking forward to my return visit.

Our 4-night stay at this hotel was deeply disappointing, and I would not recommend it. The biggest issue was the bed—far too soft for my comfort, which left me with severe back and neck pain each morning. It completely undermined any chance of a restful night. Breakfast was confusing and inconsistent. When I ordered Eggs Benedict, some staff said I couldn’t take anything from the hot buffet, while others didn’t mind. The buffet itself was underwhelming—just six items: eggs, sausages (so salty they could be a health hazard for anyone with high blood pressure), beans, tomatoes, and mushrooms. That’s it. What truly shocked me, though, was being told I’d have to pay extra for a teapot. I travel over eight times a year, staying in everything from budget to luxury hotels—that’s more than 32 different hotels annually—and I have never once been charged for a teapot. It felt petty and unprofessional. On top of that, if you’re assigned a room on the third floor, be prepared to haul your heavy luggage up from the second floor, as there’s no elevator beyond that point. All in all, this stay fell far below reasonable expectations, and I wouldn’t choose to return.

Just been here for the May half term holiday. Our rooms have AC and a balcony with a good view. The pool is decent size and clean. Loved the green and open spaces. We enjoyed lounging in front of the hotel where theres a huge ground with lots of outdoor toys for kids. The location is secluded and very relaxing. Our stay here is like in Center Parcs minus the big pool.

Check in/out experience not warming very hostile cold not friendly both looked very disinterested. The room was lovely clean, not a lover of two twin beds pushed together but it was adequate and well sized. The service in the restaurant was slow and they seemed hurried to serve and get you out, no offer of further drink when you were eating and when you asked for the drinks menu they never came back and took your order. The spa was lovely. The massage was good the as staff were friendly polite welcoming and very good. It was sad as a couple we were booked together and not together but this was fine, they could of said we would not be together, the treatments were top class though, breakfast was good. I had to find someone to take my order off the menu which was a shame as my husband had mostly finished his breakfast by the time mine came. Yes he could of waited but the service again just seemed lacking. It was my second stay here having stayed here 2 years before and I definitely have noticed a difference I came back as I enjoyed it but this time was a while different experience.
