About Travelodge St Austell
St Austell makes a practical base for exploring Cornwall, sitting close to the Eden Project and within reach of the county's golf courses, fishing spots and coastal attractions, and Travelodge St Austell offers a straightforward place to stay on Pentewan Road while you do it. The hotel has 67 rooms across four floors, each with an en-suite bathroom and drinks available in the room, plus accessible rooms for those who need them. Bedding gets a particular mention from guests, though some rooms show their age and there's no air conditioning, so it's worth bearing in mind in warmer months.
Downstairs there's a restaurant and bar with a happy hour, staffed by people guests describe as friendly and helpful, and 24 hour reception means arrival times are flexible. An electric vehicle charge point is on site, and free on-site parking is available, though it's first-come, first-served - if it's full, the multi-storey car park at White River Place is an eight-minute walk away. Pets are welcome, and nearby options stretch to horse riding, pubs and entertainment.
It's a no-frills base rather than a destination in itself, well suited to travellers who want easy access to the Eden Project and the rest of Cornwall without paying for extras they won't use.
What guests say
Very pleased with my room, it was surprisingly big. Great bedding, very comfortable and I found the hotel quiet, so had very restful nights. The staff at the reception was lovely! The room was slightly noisy because of the heavy traffic of cars in the car park, but got quiet at night.

We recently stayed at the Travelodge St Austell for a three-night extended weekend trip, and it proved to be an excellent, budget-friendly base for exploring Cornwall’s key tourist attractions. The location is highly accessible for sightseeing, and having a Tesco, McDonald’s, KFC, and Costa Coffee right on the doorstep was incredibly convenient for quick meals and amenities, even if the area does get a bit busy as a result. To top it off, the check-in staff were exceptionally warm and welcoming, and the inclusion of free parking was a massive bonus. This easily would have been a five-star stay if not for a couple of housekeeping and maintenance oversights. On one of the days, our room was unfortunately missed and not topped up with essentials. We also found that the toilet flush wasn't working very well during our stay. Additionally, tech-heavy travelers should be mindful that the property has limited charging ports. Unless you have devices that can be charged with an older USB 2.0 connection, you will definitely want to pack a standard plug adapter. Ultimately, the charging situation was just a minor hiccup for us. Thanks to the fantastic location, friendly team, and hassle-free parking, it is still a comfortable and highly recommendable place to stay for a Cornish getaway.

I stayed here as I was down here working. Staff all extremely friendly and helpful. To be honest I've stayed at a few "higher" chain hotels down here and the staff at this Travelodge we're more friendly. Food was decent, amazing sticky toffee pudding! Plenty of food places nearby including a tesco express, Costa, KFC and cafe next door. Air con would be great but not the end of the world 👍🏻

Top floor bedroom was hotter than hell - significantly hotter than the outside temperature. An ineffective table fan did nothing to help, making for a really uncomfortable night. Otherwise, the room are decent, beds are comfortable, shower is a warm dribble, everywhere (particularly the common areas) could do with a deep clean. Location is good, on an out of town retail park.
