A guest house built in the 1830s in Downalong's cobbled fisherman's quarter, run as a holiday stay for over 70 years.

About Cornerways Guest House

Cornerways occupies an 1830s building in Downalong, the old fisherman's quarter of St Ives known for its cobbled streets and close-packed granite cottages. The guest house has operated as a holiday stay for more than seventy years, giving it a settled, well-established character among the town's independent accommodation.

Rooms combine the building's historical features with modern conveniences including free WiFi, and the guest house's position near the harbour puts Porthgwidden Beach, the Tate gallery and the town's restaurants all within a short stroll. Guests consistently note the cleanliness of the rooms and the helpfulness of the owners.

Its position deep in Downalong's quiet lanes, just back from the working harbour, makes Cornerways a good match for visitors who want to be inside the old town without paying harbourfront hotel rates.

This is, without a doubt, one of the best places I have ever stayed in I have stayed in a Best Western hotel in Gatlinburg Tennessee close to the world heritage site of the Great Smokey Mountains. The rooms have been thoughtfully designexto make the most of the available space in this historic building where Daphne du Maurier used to stay. It is exceptionally clean and everything is good quality. Chris, the owner is so helpful and kind,he couldn't do enough for us. Thank you Chris!

I liked it a lot and its not a place you would call the Ritz but the lady was very nice, its very close to everything. My only complaint would be the seagulls which are right near the window which squawk 24/7. Its terrible and someone is feeding them which makes it very difficult to sleep. Otherwise, I liked this place.

Everything was perfect. Very clean, comfortable bed, good shower and the room decor had been put together beautifully. I had cause to contact Cornerways before we arrived to make a request concerning our booking and Chris was very obliging in helping me out, which was very much appreciated. Both Chris and Francine were really lovely too which added to the enjoyment of our stay.
