Ayr Holiday Park

Ayr Terrace, St Ives, Saint Ives TR26 1EJ, UK

The closest campsite to St Ives town, with views across the bay from the pitches

About Ayr Holiday Park

Ayr Holiday Park sits on a hillside directly above Porthmeor Beach, claiming one of Cornwall's best positions for town access: the centre of St Ives, with the Tate, harbour and galleries, is a ten-minute downhill walk. Many pitches look north across the bay towards Godrevy lighthouse, and the coast path runs straight past the entrance for walks towards Zennor. The site holds AA five-pennant status with modern, clean facilities including hardstanding and electric hook-ups, a shop, launderette and playground alongside static caravans and apartments, so the atmosphere leans more towards managed holiday park than simple campsite.

Expect to pay high twenties outside peak weeks, rising towards £38 and beyond in high summer when advance booking is essential. Dogs are welcome year-round. The exposed hillside catches the full westerly wind off the bay, so pitch carefully and bring good pegs—the ground is shallow over rock in places. Almost nowhere else in Cornwall puts you within walking distance of a town of this quality.

My wife and I had a very enjoyable seven night stay here in July 2026 in our 5.4m campervan. The Site overlooks the town with fantastic Sea and Beach views. It’s a short, downhill walk into St Ives, and takes about 10/15 minutes. Obviously, the walk back is pretty steep. The are a couple of grocery stores nearby where you can pick up anything you may need. From the Site you scan access the SW coastal path, which is an alternative way into St Ives. There is a restaurant on Site, as well as a swimming pool (£4/h). We never used either, so can’t comment on them, but they were well used by others on Site. There are a number of static caravans/holiday homes on the Site, which also allows camping. You can book a pitch without electricity if you want. The toilets, shower facilities, and grounds are excellent, and regularly cleaned/maintained. The pitches themselves are stoned hard standing….and quite level. Even in early July the Site was busy, with lots of families, even though schools had yet to break for the Summer…early booking is essential to secure a pitch.

The most immaculate campsite we stayed in during our tour of Cornwall. Incredible location and views, spacious pitches and incredible facilities including an indoor pool and amazing restaurant where we went for a spot of breakfast (and I had the best poached eggs I’d ever had in my life). My toddler loved the children’s play area too. We will definitely return here. Cannot fault it!

Camping here is decent, good shelter and space for pitching tents. Very close to coast path. Showers are hot and facilities are clean. Thought the restaurant food was a bit overpriced (£19 for small portion fish & chips) but otherwise good. Easy access to St Ives 👍

Great site for motorhomes, tents and caravans. Wonderful views over the coast with a 20 min coastal path walk into St Ives. Facilities are clean and of good quality. The on site cafe/restaurant offers good quality food. Would definitely go back again.
