About The Western

St Ives' galleries, coastal paths and beaches are all within easy reach of The Western, on Gabriel Street in the heart of town. Walkers and cyclists have plenty of routes on the doorstep, while golf, fishing, horse riding and watersports can all be arranged nearby, and the town's pubs and restaurants are a short stroll away.

Rooms are en-suite and include family options, with drinks available in room and free WiFi throughout. The hotel has a bar and outdoor seating for relaxing after a day out, plus meeting rooms, luggage storage and 24 hour reception for practical needs. Breakfast is a highlight, with a good spread of fresh options to set guests up for the day.

It's a straightforward, well-located base rather than a resort with extensive facilities, and some visitors note the amenities are fairly basic. What it does offer is a clean, comfortable stay, attentive staff and a central spot in St Ives, all at reasonable value.

Room came with an ensuite which included a bath, which was good. Might be a good idea to include a bath mat though. Little noisy at times, could every word and sound from people passing in the corridor. Not a major problem though, and probably the nature of an old building. Breakfast was excellent. Choice of cereals and yogurt and full English. Young lady serving breakfast with the long dark hair was helpful and pleasant. Great location.

This hotel is excellent, the welcome and helpfulness is really genuine, the cooked breakfast is very good personally cooked. Ok the rooms look a little ’tired’ but the value is incredible along with its amazing central location. Just book it. Thank you.

We stayed here for a couple of nights while in St Ives for a wedding. We were warmly welcomed by the guy on reception, the room was lovely and breakfast was great with lots of choice. Would definitely recommend.

Spotlessly clean, staff pleasant though might be a little more helpful. Booked a double room for a night, we were given a double room with an extra bed, making it rather cramped. T.V only seemed to have 3 channels, no bbc at all. En-suite so tiny there was not even room for a toilet roll holder! Heated towel rail didn't work. Breakfast is served from 7.30 until 10, however you have to book a time the day before and don't think you can go down 5 minutes early! Food clearly cooked well in advance as bacon and sausages very dried out, and is it so difficult to provide a menu? It appears it's a full English or nothing. Not sure why this is the case as there was a chef in the kitchen talking to the waitress. £142 for a night, was way overpriced.
