About Broomhall Castle

Sixteen rooms, castle-style decor and an indoor swimming pool set Broomhall Castle apart from the average Stirling stay. The hotel sits on Long Row in Menstrie, within easy reach of Stirling itself and around 4.36 miles from Alloa, making it a workable base for exploring the wider area, including Stirling University nearby.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms and are generally spacious and clean, furnished in keeping with the building's castle character, though some are on the dated side rather than freshly refurbished. The restaurant and bar are a genuine strength, with guests singling out the burgers and steak, and breakfast is available each morning alongside a snack bar for lighter bites. Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, and the overall atmosphere is quiet and cosy rather than lively.

Beyond the pool, facilities stretch to a gym, meeting rooms, a garden, laundry service and luggage storage, and the hotel also operates as a wedding venue. Free on-site parking and free WiFi are included throughout, making it a straightforward, well-equipped stop for both business and leisure visitors to the Stirling area.

Stay away! Cheap, overpriced and neglected. This beautiful castle has not seen a Penny of investment since purchased by overseas owners for cheap post Covid. Friendly but untrained staff are stretched, working in two or three roles, chef ain’t a chef, food best described as bland and not even suitable for a bad nursing home. Rooms have not seen vacuum cleaner for weeks and shower pressure is non existent. A big shame for such a great place with huge potential but until then stay away.

Great hotel in an old baronial style manor house. Very helpful staff (thank you John!). Good location in a quiet area. The good in the restaurant is excellent, both breakfast and dinner. The rooms are good sized.

If you are looking for a castle experience in Scotland, do NOT go here. I have no idea where the good reviews come from. The interior design is horrible. The rooms are fine, bit noisy and completely overpriced. The bar is frequented only by minors from the village, so the vibe is equivalent. There is no proper hotel service and the food was the worst I have ever had in my life. The „caesar salad“ was an entire lettuce with a bit of sauce. The burger was mush. The glasses were dirty. The menu looked like something from an amusement park, but even there they have better food. We asked for water three times until we got it. My hate to the chef.

Stayed for the 2 nights over a weekend for our anniversary. On our arrival we received a warm and pleasant welcome. Our room was very clean and a great size. The room was lovely and warm and remained so for the duration of our stay. The breakfast was very good and cooked fresh, with a hot vegetarian option available. A continental option was also available. The hotel had a good bar with a good selection of evening/ bar meals available at good prices. During our stay all the staff were superb. A special mention goes to Logan who was a total pleasure. We would definitely return inthr future.
