About Lost Guest House - Stirling

Melville Terrace sits on the edge of Stirling, close enough to the centre to walk in but quiet enough for an easy night's sleep, with Stirling University nearby adding a bit of local life to the area. Lost Guest House - Stirling occupies a straightforward spot here, handy for those who want to be near the city without paying city-centre prices.

Rooms come with free WiFi and air conditioning, and the guest house offers 24 hour reception along with luggage storage for early arrivals or late departures. Breakfast is a genuine highlight, and free on-site parking is a welcome bonus in a city where that isn't a given. That said, upkeep in some rooms has been patchy, and staff helpfulness has been inconsistent at times, so it's worth setting expectations accordingly.

Outside the door there's plenty to do, with a golf course, fishing, and entertainment all within reach, plus a good spread of pubs, bars, and restaurants nearby for evenings out. It suits guests who want a well-located, no-frills base with a decent breakfast and free parking sorted.

Parking space is good. Staff was friendly and helpful. As soon as we walked in, we noticed that the Guesthouse is not well maintained and is worn out. As we walked to the room, there were clothes hanging on the heater and more clothes on a bench. The room was of good size, but we noticed old humidty/leak signs on the ceiling and wallpaper coming out. As soon as you open the room, a bad smell is the first thing we noticed, probably from the old carpet and smoking. The bathroom worked fine and it was clean. There was an ironing board and an iron at the corridor for guests to use, which was handy. Location is great though. Walking distance from good restaurants and easy access to Bannockburn and Stirling Castle sites.

The room was fine for ~£40 a night; not the cleanest, but clean enough, and the private bathroom was in great condition. The windows let in quite a bit of noise from the road outside, though the location is convenient, with only a 15-20 minute walk to the castle. However, some of the hotel’s décor really needs attention; two of the pictures outside my room (I believe room 20) were covered in mould, which was quite off-putting and prompted me to thoroughly check the room before feeling reassured enough to stay. The breakfast options seem a great price but I decided to go with the many local cafés and restaurants a 5 minute walk down the road. Go on their website for the best price

Room was very clean. Parking right outside. Lovely location. Couldn't get window to stay open as happened to be a very warm day. Only issue . Staff are friendly and helpful. Close to the town centre , just a few minutes walk.

Avoid avoid, rudest staff ever take your money and run somewhere else. Comment below just proved my point. I booked this for a work meeting which was cancelled, I then tried to rebook this to another date on booking.com thought it was all done as there was availability. Hotel rejected the move so I phoned to find out why and was met with hostility. Phoned about the comment again and was told it wasn’t her, that I had the wrong number and that she wasn’t rude. Argumentative staff zero customer relations experience clearly. No wonder reviews are so bad
