About Dragon Hotel

The Dragon Hotel is one of Swansea's largest city-centre hotels, a modern building close to the main shopping streets, the covered market and the Grand Theatre. Its size makes it a regular choice for conferences and events as well as leisure stays, with a straightforward, comfortable style of room rather than boutique styling.

An on-site restaurant and bar cover most dining needs without leaving the building, and a small leisure suite with pool is available for guests wanting to unwind after a day on Gower's beaches or walking the coast path. Its central position means the station is a short walk away, useful for anyone arriving by train.

Being in the heart of the city, it suits visitors prioritising the market, museums and nightlife over sea views, with Mumbles and the start of the bay promenade a short drive or bus ride away.

Rather than write everything anew, here's the email I sent that was ignored! I wanted to provide feedback regarding our stay on the 28th of May, as unfortunately we were very disappointed with the overall experience. Our initial impression of the room was poor. The carpet was stained and creased, the woodwork damaged, and the room generally felt tired and below the standard we would expect from a 4-star hotel. We also found issues with the facilities, including visible lines on the television screen and an extremely poor shower, with very low pressure and a damaged or ineffective shower head that made it difficult to use comfortably. The most significant issue, however, was the air conditioning. After returning to the room in the evening, we turned the system on, but it appeared to make no difference, with the room remaining at approximately 29–30°C throughout the night despite the thermostat being set much lower. This made sleeping extremely difficult. This was then compounded by the fire alarm sounding at approximately 5:35am. While we appreciate this may have been caused by the storm and outside the hotel’s control, the handling of the situation was disappointing. After coming downstairs, no apology or reassurance was offered by staff, and guests were simply told they could return to their rooms while the alarm was still sounding. Overall, we felt the standard of the accommodation and the experience as a whole fell well below what would reasonably be expected of a 4-star hotel.

Dragon hotel is good for a short trip or business trip. What I like is room size and air con. Centrally located in city, and onsite parking is available. However, the vibe within in the hotel is not great. Wifi was not working for a day, no intercom. If you have something to talk to reception, you need to go reception. Break fast spread is very limited and no live counter. Overall, I recommed it for a short business business trip.

Location is the positive point but the hotel is very dated and needs some deep cleaning. carpets are worn and bulging in many places, general cleanliness of the hotel is poor. I stayed in a suite and carpets are bulging and all woodwork is chipped or damaged, aircon didnt really do anything and shower didnt work. Mini fridge in the sitting room looked like it had never been cleaned. Staff were all very helpful and friendly and breakfast was expected for a buffet. I wouldnt recommend coming back at the price point and you have to pay extra to park

We didn't pay alot for the room, and had seen bad reviews but we just needed a bed for the night, so we could travel to Cardiff for a music gig! Room was spacious and it was clean! Whole place just needs updating and modernising. We didn't stay for breakfast as we were heading home. Basically we got what we paid for but we've stayed in worse travel lodges!
