Brook Lodge

Dartmoor National Park draws walkers and nature-watchers year-round, and Brook Lodge sits deep in that landscape—set back from the B3212 near Doccombe, surrounded by 13 acres of ancient woodland shared with other properties on site. The lodge itself is compact and comfortable: two bedrooms (one single, one kingsize), two bathrooms, and an open-plan ground floor that combines living, dining and kitchen in one space. Electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are all covered; the kitchen has a full cooker, dishwasher and washing machine for longer stays.

The setting matters most here. A stream runs through the grounds four yards from the door, and the woodland is genuine—dense with plants, wildflowers in season, resident wildlife and granite boulders. There's no light pollution, which makes for clear night skies. The property comes with parking for one car and a garden with seating. Dogs are welcome (kept on a lead) and stay free of charge; children are not accommodated except for infants in arms. A golf club and horse riding across Dartmoor are nearby, while Exeter sits ten miles away and the coast fourteen.
