The beach is less than a mile away, and Shaldon itself—a working fishing village at the mouth of the River Teign—sits just down the hill. From there you can take the famous ferry across to Teignmouth, walk the estuary, or visit the nearby zoo. Torquay's harbour and Brixham's restaurants and cafés are close enough for a day trip, and Dartmoor, Exeter's cathedral and independent shops, and several National Trust properties all fall within reasonable driving distance.
New Barn Reservoir is a converted water tank set among farmland at the top of Ringmore, with neighbours more likely to be alpacas than people. The structure's original domed ceilings, archways and large windows frame countryside views. Ground floor holds the living room (with Freesat), a kitchen and dining space equipped for cooking from scratch, and two bedrooms—one with a kingsize and single bed, the other kingsize only. Upstairs is a third single bedroom. The single wet room and separate toilet serve all three. Two outdoor seating areas, one decked and one gravelled, look out over the land. Parking for three cars sits on the property, and essentials including heating, power, bed linen, towels and wi-fi are covered. There is a small covered pond in the grounds. No smoking inside the property.
