A recently refurbished central hotel with a seafood and steak restaurant, a real-ale bar and en-suite rooms looking across Loch Broom.

About The Argyll Hotel

The Argyll Hotel sits in the centre of Ullapool, close to the shops and harbour, and has been refurbished to give its guest rooms a modern but still cosy feel while keeping the building's traditional character. Many rooms look out across Loch Broom towards the mountains beyond.

Its restaurant serves seafood landed locally alongside steaks and other Highland fare, and the bar carries a good range of real ales and whiskies, making the hotel a popular evening spot for both residents and passers-through. A cosy coffee shop rounds out the ground-floor offering for a lighter daytime option.

Central without being noisy, the Argyll suits both business travellers passing through and leisure guests using Ullapool as a touring base for Wester Ross and the North Coast 500.

Positives: excellent location and views from rooms over the port. Lovely friendly staff and the bar downstairs was perfect. Negatives: Our King room was a great size and bed was comfortable...... BUT...the owners need to do some basic touch up work and a deep clean of carpets. The paintwork was damaged all over the place and the bathroom was in quite poor condition, silicone dirty. Shower was held together with a cable tie :(. I would urge the owners to do some remdial works, they're not huge things but when you pay £128 you expect a reasonable standard. I do recommend the hotel but the owners must sort the repairs and decorating out. I've put photos of what I'm talking about...but also the wonderful view we had. I also stress the young staff who we met were absolutely great.

No one in reception. Difficult parking. Bad smell of food in reception. Narrow stairs. No light in lamp, light bulb were missing. No light in bathroom. Curtain fell down ... Is this a Hostel? Expensive for £180! No breakfast. No value for money!

Stopped at Ullapool for the afternoon on our NC500 Trip. We searched for somewhere serving Sunday Roasts and came across The Argyll Hotel. The girls who served us were very friendly. Our meal came pretty quick and oh wow, it was delicious. My husband is quite fussy where food is concerned and he said it was one of, if not thee best Sunday roast he'd ever had. The only negative thing to say is the ladies toilets could do with an upgrade. Otherwise definitely worth a visit if you're ever in Ullapool.

Great place, very central, fantastic value for money, and the view from our very nicely appointed & very clean room over Ullapool’s beautiful harbour was to die for. Great bar with a chance to meet some local characters. Thank you for making us feel very welcome. We’ll be sure to be back — to sample the bar menu as well next time!
