Believed to be Ullapool's oldest hotel, this 55-room waterfront property on Loch Broom pairs harbour and mountain views with a bar and restaurant on site.

About The Royal Hotel

The Royal Hotel occupies a prominent waterfront spot on Garve Road, where the town meets the loch, and has been in continuous use as a hotel longer than any other in Ullapool. Its 55 en-suite bedrooms are split roughly evenly between those looking out over the harbour and mountains and quieter rooms to the rear, giving a choice between views and a peaceful night's sleep.

The Waterfront Bar and Restaurant serves food throughout the day, making the hotel a straightforward base for anyone arriving late off the ferry or wanting dinner without venturing out. A private car park is a genuine advantage in a town where street parking is at a premium during the summer season.

Its position on the NC500 route and proximity to the CalMac ferry terminal make it a popular choice for touring parties and ferry travellers alike, and its scale means it can accommodate groups more easily than many of the town's smaller guest houses.

A lovely Hotel right by the Ullapool Harbor! Wonderful views of the Harbor and the Highlands from the rooms! Breakfast includes hot dishes made to order, plus a small but sufficient buffet! Dining at the restaurant is also highly recommended! It is a bit on the pricier side, but the quality is excellent. The Rooms are very spacious and cleaned daily! The staff are super friendly and helpful with any questions or issues, even if there might occasionally be a slight language barrier! A highly recommended hotel! We didn't just use it as a stopover for a quick night's sleep, but as a base for day trips in all directions—its location is perfect for that!

The hotel room we got was very spacious for the two of us. The bathroom and room were nice and clean. We even had a slight view of the beautiful water scenery. The breakfast was a nice combination of continental buffet and could order additional hot foods such as eggs, pancakes , etc. We also had dinner one night at the hotel and it was delicious. Just a warning there aren't fans at this hotel so we kept our door open occasionally for fresh air circulation.

This hotel is situated across the road from Loch Broom and only 1/4 mile walk to the shops along the water front. The ferry terminal is central to the shops. The hotel room was really nice with a terrace and a view of the Loch. Bed was really nice and comfortable and plenty of space in the room. The restaurant food was really good and our waiter Ricki was amazing. Definitely a great stay.

Our room was down two long corridors and we had to haul our luggage up a flight of stairs. Lovely view of the harbour. Gas station next door. Close to ferry terminal. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Comfortable room. Actual shelf space in the bathroom for toiletries.
