What visitors say
Great free entry museum. We stumbled on it by accident but it was very interesting and well thought out, presented and maintained. Would definitely recommend a visit if you’re in the town! Kept our 4&7 year olds entertained too!

A fascinating insight into North Devon of the past. Learned lots about the local culture and trades that made the area famous. Plenty of clear placards to read, well curated and laid out, and something for people of all ages. Helpful staff on the welcome desk. A brilliant free offering for locals and tourists.

Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon features a wide variety of collections covering all the aspects of the old good days. It’s always lovely to trip down memory lane and be grateful what our predecessors have done for us. Having finished the tour, zipping a cup of coffee and enjoy a slice of Victorian sponge cake in its Victorian style tea room is definitely a plus. Despite the museum is totally free, I would strongly recommend a donation to help its maintenance.
