Kitty Cafe Leeds

This is the second Kitty Cafe we have visited (the first being Nottingham). The quality of food was consistent across both locations. We had the Kitty meal deal consisting of a toastie (with side salad and coleslaw), a drink and a dessert for £12.99 each. Both locations have a range of merchandise to purchase so bring your spending money. There are a range of cats here and we were greeted by several kittens once we were seated. We did unfortunately have to wait for over ten minutes to be greeted and allowed entry on arrival but I believe this was down to lower staff numbers at the start of the day (we arrived around 10:30am). My partner and I agree that we preferred the Nottingham cafe for it's decor, lap loving cats and service yet would still revisit the Leeds Kitty café for the resident kitties and experience.

Unsure about the whole experience to be fair, reading other reviews it seems some may have got in at a better time and actually managed to enjoy it but personally I found it upsetting and uncomfortable. The staff are really lovely and clearly and just trying to do their job and the place was kept well clean and tidy so no issues that way at all. The place in general however I feel needs a minimum age limit, we witnessed kids chasing, tormenting and chucking toys at cats constantly. (Totally not fault of the staff either, the parents should be controlling them!) When we were finally lucky enough to have a trusting cat come over, it was very quickly ruined as a child came to grab the cat 1 second later or came running towards it. The cats look well fed and there coats are clearly in a good state so no concerns that way however they were very evidently stressed with the situation - all had their tails tucked low and we're scattering around trying to get to the highest places (understandably because same!!!) Overall, the staff are lovely, the food was nice and reasonable but seeing the cats being tormented just wasn't on for me, definitely needs some more rules in relation to children (fast!!!) and because of this I won't be returning for sure sadly. After spending nearly £50 I can only hope it goes towards to cats. ❤️

I’m going to echo just about every cat lovers response to this place. Age limits please! The staff are amazing, food was wonderful. The atmosphere is far too chaotic for felines in general, let alone ones that may have faced a trauma. Children were running, screaming, jumping on couches and chasing the cats. Most cats were terrified. I wanted to love this place but the experience has left me very sad for the cats that are stuck there.

I was left feeling disappointed with my visit. The staff seemed disinterested, very slow service to get in and when trying to order. We did visit towards the end of the day but the cats seemed playful and liked to explore. The building itself is very well decorated and plenty of amenities for the resident felines. You are free to move around to see the other cats but remember to abide by the clear rules which are common sense to keep everyone safe. If the staff seemed to be more engaged, I would happily give an extra star or two.
