What diners say
We got married in November at Le Gothique and from the moment we visited we knew instantly this was the place we wanted to get married! We were welcomed with warmth and big smiles by Andrew, who was just as excited as us to be planning our wedding! Which is very hard to find in London and exactly the reason we chose a family owned business over any of the other big venues who treated us just like a number. The venue and the grounds itself are absolutely breathtaking and it’s a building that holds so much history. Our guests especially loved the big hall (perfect for a ceremony) and the beautiful garden. The food was amazing and again the venue was so accommodating, helping us find the perfect menu which is another reason to book Le Gothique! Most venues we visited before gave us only one meal to choose for all guests which is basically impossible! But we would like to thank Andrew especially for guiding us through every step of our planning process nothing was too much for you and we know there are always things that go wrong on a wedding day but you handled every situation with so much care and honesty. We knew we are in good hands and fully trusted you. Thank you for your hard work and we will forever cherish Le Gothique. Sarah & Edmund

We held our wedding at Le Gothique in August 2025. From the moment we enquired it couldn't have been easier to book and Andrew and Mark were incredibly helpful. We were looked after from start to finish from a food tasting to answering any questions we had. The day was perfect, the food was amazing and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and attentive. A huge thank you to Andrew, Mark and all the staff for making our day so special.

Le Gothique is part of the Royal Victoria Patriotic Building. I’d love to share my experience photographing a wedding at Le Gothique in South London, a beautiful and unique venue full of character and history. It’s set within the Royal Victoria Patriotic Building, one of London’s hidden treasures, and has an atmosphere that feels both historical and enchanting. The courtyard is one of my favourite spaces, a lovely setting for outdoor ceremonies, surrounded by charming architecture and a sense of mystery. Martin and Sean’s autumn celebration, led by Triona, a lovely celebrant, was deeply meaningful and warm. What makes Le Gothique truly special is its personality, that wonderful blend of gothic charm, history, and mysterious spirit. It’s an inspiring choice for couples looking for something unique and quirky. (Just to note, I experienced this venue as a wedding photographer rather than as a restaurant guest.)

Terrible experience. We visited for Sunday lunch and, despite being the only customers in the restaurant, waited over an hour for six main courses to be served. The explanation given was that one member of our party had ordered from a menu that was apparently not part of the Sunday lunch service. The dish in question was a hamburger, which did not seem a convincing reason for such a lengthy delay. In total, we spent around 3.5 hours in the restaurant for one main course and a few desserts. The service felt unnecessarily slow throughout, and it gave the impression that customers were being encouraged to order more drinks while waiting. My steak (Entrecôte Frites, £29.95), ordered medium rare, arrived well overdone. By the time it was finally served, I did not have the energy to send it back. At £30, I would expect a much higher standard for what was otherwise a fairly ordinary piece of meat. The stuffed ravioli (£19.95) ordered by one of my friends looked extremely sparse for a main course, consisting of just five ravioli in a small amount of tomato sauce. Another friend ordered the Poulet Saltimbocca (£23.95) and was equally unimpressed, leaving a significant portion uneaten. The toilets were also poorly maintained, with some cubicles lacking toilet paper and cleanliness standards falling well below what I would expect from a restaurant charging these prices. Overall, the venue had the atmosphere of a business struggling to attract customers, and unfortunately the food and service did nothing to change that impression. I left disappointed and feeling that the experience did not represent good value for money. I would not return and cannot recommend it.
