Bury St Edmunds lies within easy reach, a market town with the Abbey, cathedral, restaurants and shops, while Ickworth House—an Italianate palace—makes for a worthwhile excursion. The Mid Suffolk Light Railway runs steam trains through the countryside with special events throughout the year. A local pub is roughly a mile away, and the APEX theatre hosts year-round performances.
Mallards is a converted barn with one bedroom upstairs—a super kingsize bed—and a shower room on the same floor. Downstairs, an open-plan living and dining space centres on a wood burner, with a kitchen equipped for cooking proper meals. French doors open to a private garden where you can sit out; beyond the fence, alpacas and donkeys graze in the adjoining field. A transparent garden pod on the property is designed for stargazing and quiet time. Parking for one car is on site, and wifi is available throughout.
The essentials—heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and an initial load of wood for the burner—are included. One well-behaved pet can stay free. No smoking inside the property.
