The Ickworth Hotel & Spa

We’ve, unfortunately, just come back from a family holiday here. We stayed for 2 nights over the weekend and none of us wanted to leave. Saying that the service and staff were great seems to be an inadequate representation. Every member of staff felt like friend. Less like you where staying in a hotel, more like you where staying at a big country house with extended family. I’ve truly never been made to feel more at home. The new refurb is stunning, especially the changing rooms for the pool! The grounds are quiet and tranquil. The food was incredible. A beautiful place run by outstanding people.

We had a fantastic family stay at The Ickworth. The Ickworth Estate itself is beautiful, with so much to do. The play areas are excellent, there is plenty of open space for children to run around, sheep roaming the grounds, and the quintessential English countryside all around you. The hotel is exceptionally family-friendly. On the Saturday we stayed, there were so many organised activities that we didn't need to leave the hotel at all. The childminding team was outstanding, looking after babies and children of all ages with genuine care and enthusiasm. A special thank you to Joseph, Kasia and the restaurant team, who were incredibly accommodating and patient with our two very messy little eaters. Maisie at reception was also wonderful with the children and made us feel very welcomed! For the adults, it was also a great place to unwind or get a bit of work done (there is space both in our room and around the hotel to do some proper work). We really enjoyed our stay and will have many happy memories of our time there.

This must be somewhere amongst our 20th visit since our now adult children were babies! We have utterly fallen in love with this place and its staff, and its recent makeover has taken things to a new level. Historically whenever we have been on holiday anywhere, we’ve always been really glad to return to our beautiful home. NOT this time, our visit to Ickworth this time left us feeling borderline depressed to leave! The staff are simply amazing, and that’s EVERYONE we encountered, Not just reception, the waiting staff, the housemaids, even the kitchen staff for example would wave and smile as we and our inquisitive little one would watch them at work creating the amazing food they do!! The grounds are stunning, the staff are amazing, the food is amazing, the newly refurbished place is beautiful . We were staying just a few weeks after reopening after refurbishment, in 35 degree heatwave, so frankly my expectations were low, as I thought everything was stacked against them! My daughter’s expectation to the contrary was sky high! She’s always thoroughly enjoyed this place and to be returning as a family once again in adulthood was such an exciting prospect for her, that to these ends, she felt she could only therefore feel satisfied at best or more likely disappointed! She need not have worried! Her visit surpasses her expectations!!!! And that is extremely rare, when have we ever had high expectations of a place or experience that have been utterly surpassed!! In life you have people who leave negative reviews, and occasionally, I’ve felt it necessary to do so myself, but in a constructive way. And it’s fair to say that historically, I’ve had criticisms of this place, BUT anyone who criticises this place now, such would say more about THEM than this establishment! There are always times when something might not be fully on point, when you consider how many aspects of a hotel stay there are, pool, food, cleanliness, staff, facilities etc. etc. Any reasonable rational person will look at a stay in the round. And given this perspective, I simply cannot see how anyone could possibly leave anything other than 5 stars as it currently is.

Lovely night here. Weather was a bit hot and the AC somewhat improvised but no real complaints. Friendly staff. Lovely food. Lots for the kids to do. Would like to have made more of the grounds. Great massage at the spa.
