Old High Hall sits in Wickhambrook, a village of Anglo-Saxon origins in the heart of Suffolk's rural landscape. Built in the 14th or 15th century as a hunting lodge and later extended, the property remains a substantial detached cottage with heavy beams and thatch, set within two acres of grounds that include a lawned garden, terrace and two fenced ponds. Open fires warm the main living and dining rooms on the ground floor, while the whole house—five bedrooms across three storeys, four bathrooms—provides space for ten people.
Bedrooms range from doubles to singles, with four bathrooms offering a mix of standard and roll-top baths. The kitchen has an electric oven, hob, dishwasher and microwave; a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer handles laundry. Wifi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included. Parking for up to seven cars (five outside, two in the garage) is available on site, and a bike store sits in the grounds. The village pub is within a mile's walk. No smoking throughout.
Wickhambrook itself has a shop for basics and local pubs for eating out. Bury St. Edmunds and Newmarket are each about eight miles away, offering market towns, racecourse visits and Georgian architecture. The surrounding countryside suits those wanting quiet countryside time as much as those exploring Suffolk's towns.
