Arles Beck
Westmorland and Furness
Winster Valley sits quietly between the fells, close enough to Bowness-on-Windermere for the lake to be reachable in ten minutes by car, yet far enough to feel removed from the bustle. Arles Beck is one of eight detached pods built in 2023 on grounds behind The Brown Horse Inn, a traditional Georgian coaching inn where you can eat without leaving the immediate surroundings. The setting works for walking country as well: footpaths lead into the valley and beyond.
The pod is arranged on one level, with the kitchen, dining space and bedroom all open-plan. A kingsize bed sits alongside the living area, and a walk-in shower serves the ensuite. Doors from the kitchen open onto your own terrace, where woodland views and garden furniture make for a quiet retreat. The essentials—heating, electricity, wifi, bed linen and towels—are all provided. One well-behaved dog can come with you, and parking for one car is on site.
From here you're positioned for the whole of the central Lake District: Ambleside is twenty minutes away, Grasmere thirty, and from the lake at Bowness you can take a steamer to either town, or cross to Lakeside where The Aquarium and the steam railway to Haverthwaite are based. Non-smokers only.
