Winster Valley, tucked between Bowness-on-Windermere and the central Lake District fells, is quiet countryside punctuated by proper village life. Rosthwaite sits behind The Brown Horse Inn, a Georgian coaching house that still serves locally sourced food and real ales—so dinner is quite literally outside your door. Eight pods were built here in 2023, each one finished to the same standard but decorated individually. This one has wood panelling, neutral furnishings and an open-plan layout: kitchen, dining space for two, and sleeping area all on the ground floor, with an ensuite shower room. The bedroom has a kingsize bed and a wall-mounted smart TV. Essentials like electricity, wifi, bed linen and towels are included, and there is parking for one car on site.
A private terrace looks toward woodland, and one of the genuine touches is the provision of bathrobes and toiletries. Dogs are welcome. The whole property is yours alone, and you arrive after 3pm and leave by 10am. From here, Bowness-on-Windermere is ten minutes by car, Ambleside twenty, and Grasmere thirty—all three are bases for walking and for reaching water-based attractions like Lake Windermere cruises or the Lakeside Aquarium. The immediate area around Winster itself is good for quieter fell and valley walks from the village.
