Ambleside sits at the head of Lake Windermere, and from there the Langdale Valley stretches into some of the Lake District's most dramatic countryside. Carr Crag Lodge occupies the gateway to that landscape—close enough to the town for shops and restaurants, far enough out to feel genuinely rural. Skelwith Force waterfall is nearby, and the fells rise directly from the surrounding fields, making this a natural base for walkers of any ability.
The house itself is a detached stone building, recently renovated but still recognisably traditional. Downstairs there is an open-plan living and dining space with a woodburner, a separate sitting room, and a kitchen equipped for proper cooking—electric oven, induction hob, dishwasher and all the usual appliances. A utility room handles laundry. Upstairs, three bedrooms sleep six: a kingsize and a double with an en-suite shower and basin, and a second kingsize served by a separate bathroom. Wifi, heating and hot water are all included, along with bed linen and towels. The garden is enclosed, with patio furniture, a barbecue and space for children to play safely. There is parking for four cars on site and an electric charging point if you need it.
One dog is welcome to stay at no extra cost. The house does not permit smoking. Check-in is after 15:00 and departure before 10:00.

This place looks like it's from a fairytale! Exactly as you see in the photos! You are right in the nature where you can enjoy the field and explore the nearby river. We were two families of 4 adults, a 2-year old and a dog and we couldn't be more happy with the choice we made. The house was warm and the rooms quite spacious and clean. We really enjoyed our stay and we will probably be coming back at some point.

Very comfortable walks on the doorstep could have done with heating in the lounge area very damp and cool after a day walking in the rain
