Colby Hall Cottage
Westmorland and Furness

Rural Westmorland offers some of England's quietest walking country, and Colby Hall Cottage sits in the thick of it. The Eden Valley spreads around this single-storey property, positioned between Appleby-in-Westmorland—a market town with genuine medieval bones—and the twin pulls of the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks. The Scottish Borders and Hadrian's Wall lie within a reasonable drive too.
The cottage is ground-floor throughout: a living and dining space with a woodburner, a kitchen fitted for cooking rather than reheating, two bedrooms (one double, one bunk), and a shower room. Bed linen, towels, wi-fi and heating are covered. The garden has furniture and space to sit. One car parks on site; one dog stays free, though the sheep farming hereabouts means leads are essential. No smoking indoors.
This is adults-only territory. The nearest shop, pub and restaurant are 1.5 miles away in Appleby itself. Walking, cycling, fishing and golf all happen on the doorstep.

What guests say
A beautifully clean, well kept and comfortable cottage in a wonderful part of the world. Hosts were friendly and receptive and had thought of every little detail to make this the perfect stay. Will be back in a heartbeat!
