Hayrake

Ambleside sits on the fringe of the Lake District, with fell ranges rising behind it and Hayes Garden Centre nearby. Hayrake occupies that village edge, built from local stone with the character that comes with age—exposed beams, uneven floors, the occasional squeaky board. The cottage spreads across three floors, each offering better views of the Coniston Hills than the last, with an open fire for colder days.

The ground floor holds a living room with a fireplace and television, a dining room with books and games, and a kitchen equipped to cook proper meals. Upstairs are four bedrooms: two doubles and two singles across the first and second floors, served by one bathroom with a bath and shower, plus a separate toilet on the top level. The steep, narrow stairs mean this layout suits those who manage multiple flights comfortably. One dog is welcome. Bed linen and towels are provided, along with electricity and wi-fi; fuel for the fire is available locally. There is parking for two cars on site, and a pub sits within a mile's walk.
